This is an area that is on the west mesa past Rio Rancho. I have been avoiding it for at least 6-7 years because the last time I was out there was on a DRZ400-S with DS tires and I hated life that day.:lol3

We started with nine riders and within 15 minutes we had lost two riders. :scratch

This is Paul, our trail guide for the day.

This is Linda. She bounces up real well. Good rider and a great sport!:nod

Once again, I am in awe of the vastness and beauty of NM. See the riders left of center in the pic?

This was a sweet ridgeline trail.

Projected is not doing a move, just dismounting. That is Mt. Taylor in the distance. It's over by Grants and maybe 50 miles as the crow flies. :dunno

How stupid do you have to be to have your eyes shut when taking your own pic? :poser

    :rolleyes

    There......that's better!

Curtis is pointing out a go-a-round. The narrow ridges can be intimidating. :nod

We used to run the Baja bugs out there, even with 4 wheels and fatty tires it sucked in the dry river beds, my hats off to you.

Just rode the south 14 today.

The sand was good today. Maybe the cooler temps are helping to hold some moisture in the ground. :dunno

I'll get some more pics up tomorrow and I'm sure that there are others as well. :snore for now. :wave

    Anytime! :deal
    More pics tonight.
Work (sucks) has me buried for the day. :cry

BTW, it looks like we may get some snow later this week..................it's OK though. We can always use the moisture and it doesn't last long.

I think we crossed paths with your group out there. I was on an XR650R, and my two buddies were on a DRZ and a CRF450R. The temps out there were great and the sand was almost perfect. It was a good day until I looped the XRR trying to climb out of a steep box canyon :shog

Me thinks Matchanu is exaggerating a little bit. The sand out there gets soft but not that soft.

I don't know Fleg--down in the river bottom--which is where it looks like they were coming up from--long runs in that sand can be challenging--a lot of time on the pegs.:clap Nothing like Pismo Beach (done it on sand rails)--but interesting.

It's not horrible but Matchanu was saying that baja bugs with fat tires and four wheeled vehicles have trouble with it. As I regularly take my heavy assed Dodge CTD out there with skinny street tires on it on a regular basis and have never used 4wd in the wash bottoms, I think it's a little bit of a exaggeration.

Depends where you are I suppose.

Never got stuck but it got pretty dicey and deep in some areas.

Anyway, I'm not exaggerating, you can choose to believe that or not, I could give a rats ass.
