ktm 990 fuel reserve light stay on

Hi guys, I've got an 08 990 ADV, it only arrived today. It started initially, then went wouldn't fire up. I noticed the fuel light on, so stuck in a litre of fuel, fired straight up. I went to the fuel station and filled up, only 10 litres??? Anyway the fuel light is still on.

Any pointers would be great

Cheers

Harty

From the manual:

Quote:
After refueling, it will take approx. 8 minutes for the fuel warning lamp to switch off and for
TRIP F to automatically reset to 0 and return to the previous display mode.
If it's staying on longer than that, you might have some other issues.

It should be in your manual somewhere.

I'm not sure if it would be in the wiring diagram in the repair manual, but it has to have some sort of capacitive or time delay function. If the light went out immediately upon sensing sufficient fuel levels, it would flicker on and off as fuel swished around while riding. My guess is that the computer senses data from the fuel level sensor and averages it over a period of time to get an accurate sense of the fuel level. This way, it would better be able to filter out fluctuations in fuel levels due the movement of the fuel in the tanks while riding.

I may be completely wrong, though.

One other suggestion is at trip F, press the set button for a few secs and the light will go away!

It works on a euro 2006 990Adv.
