...I saw a couple of suggestions to start a thread for posting our pictures of the Blue Ridge Parkway...

How about if we expand it beyond the Blue Ridge Parkway and include any of your pictures in the Blue Ridge, Smoky, and Appalachian Mountains?

So, if no one else has started it, I'll begin with this one I took last year on Grandfather Mountain...

Even cloudy days are pretty in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here's a picture near Asheville, North Carolina...

Don't forget there are valleys between the mountains.

Thank you for starting this thread. I was born and raised in these mountains (Galax, VA) and to me they are the most beautiful place on Earth.

All of the pictures are beautiful.:clapKeep them coming.
My husband and I planning a trip this September to look at property in south eastern TN and northern GA.

We will be on a limited time frame and unfortunatly only have time for a meandering one way photo op ride on part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Which is a better experience riding North to south or South to north?

Between what towns would you recommend as a must see ?

I just rode the whole Parkway (and Skyline Drive) from Cherokee, NC, to Front Royal, VA, and I don't think it makes any difference if you're going north or south (all overlooks are accessible from both directions.)

My favorite stretch is between Boone and Little Switzerland (near Asheville) in NC. :clap

What do you mean? It never rains in western North Carolina!

(There's a plaque on top of Mt. Mitchell that says it rains 8 out of 10 days up there!)

Nope. No fog, either. It's only high humidity levels.

November can be a bit more on the dry side, though.
