    Hello Friends,

The ESA rear shock on my '09 R12GS has sprung a leak, dribbling oil on the garage floor. 60K miles. Looks like my options are OEM (not), Works, Wilbur, or Öhlin. I'm looking for opinions from the cognoscenti on what makes the most sense from a mostly cost perspective. I expect to be riding this beast for another year, probably two. Hell, I'm retired, more likely three, then right on to the Hoveround.

I suppose a used unit is an option as well....any carcasses out there getting dismembered?

    What say ye?

    Thanks, Stay Safe.

My rear ESA shock recently failed on my 09 GSA, but I was still in the warranty window. However, I'm firmly in the Wilburs ESA replacement camp. If the front fails after April (warranty end) then both are getting Wilburs. If before April, then the factory one. Part of my reasoning is price, BTW. I also like the ESA functionality. That's my 2 cents worth.

Call Racetech (http://www.racetech.com/) in Ca. They rebuilt my stock non ESA shock for $162.00 and did a good job. It might be worth seeing if they can do ESA rebuild.

    Just a more economical solution.

I thought I read somewhere here in ADVrider that they do handle ESA and make them servicable for the future as well. I will try and find the post. There was no mention of cost though...from what I can remember.

Given my Type A personality, I had to make a decision. After review and following leads here and elsewhere I ordered a new Hyperpro shock.

My thanks to all who contributed.
