Gotta watch out for 19th century nails when riding. I found this relic when when my bike developed a knock. It was in my tire and hitting the rim each revolution.

Once more, great fun was had, new friends made, new lies told, old lies repeated and old friends revisited. ADV

Getting about 8mpg with the 600 and 690 in the back. So much for that independence from foreign oil.

This one is for Inept. You were missed:nod
[IMG]

Now that that's outta the way...
The ride over was brutal
[IMG]

When I arrived though Pete was quick to spot an empty hand- Mucho thanks for the beers Sir. :clap
[IMG]

All of the trails were well groomed, and the Forest Service was good about making sure no logs, mud, or any other trail obstructions were there to impede our progress. I rode sweep for a good part of the day. I love being in the rear with the fear.

Long straight trails, with some sort of traction enhancer was the norm
[IMG]

The bikes all stayed clean, and sparkly.

Nothing to see here... Move along
[IMG]

After lunch my jacket was a little smelly, and the flame retardant liquid dripping out of the pockets didn't make me want to hurry up and throw it back on. So, I strapped it to the back and rolled the rest of the day squid style. Since I was sans gear I figured bouncing it off the limiter in second doing a wheelie was the best way to represent. Swampy might have cried:dunno

Thanks to everyone for another home run! Eloy, and FIL- Top notch folks, and I mean second to NONE!

As before, great time with some awesome inmates. Arrived Friday night around 10:30. Stopped at a Citgo in Sanderson. All they had in 12-packs was warm Busch and they had dial up internet for the debit machine. Thought that was a bad omen (in addition to the sub-freezing temps).

Saturday ride as was great. XR took a few more kicks than usual.

Didn't take a whole lot of photos at the beginning of the ride. Lunch was...well, an adventure. I think they still have a BBQ sandwich platter waiting.

Trails were pretty good. We didn't find a whole lot of water (at first), but started to pick up. Never had the XR too wet. That changed pretty quick.

Eloy was the guinea pig for the last water hole. Than, we got to play "Today, who can start my KLR?" game with Adams sweet little old 250. But, Adam got her going not too long after, and away we went.

Chicken slowed down not far from camp on the way back. Guess he thought his new studded tire didn't work too well.

View on Saturday night was just awful. Look at this crap!

Buzz said his knee or dick wasn't doing too hot. So, shoe-horned the 600 and 690 in the same truck. Had to stop a few times to correct them, but got Buzz home safely and later my XR. Must have not liked the fact that I said I wanted one of those 525 EXCs since I discovered a little oil leak on top of the stator gasket again . Oh well.

Gotta say thank you to you guys for showing a great time. The food, ride and bikes was epic and the people even more epic (that dump cake was the shizzat). Looking forward to many more years of this.

Friday there were only a few of us. It wasn't long before we ran into water. This was the good kind. :1drink

I was riding second and decided to let a couple guys go by me, they swear I knew what was up ahead. :rofl
[IMG]

It was a dead end and some real soft stuff.

Billy still couldn't believe Fu polished his swing arm. :eek1
[IMG]

Had to make a sight-seeing stop. The road was closed, but that didn't stop us.

You don't see very many waterfalls in Florida. The water was way down. but still was cool.

Chicken showed up after the ride on Friday. Not too often a KLR shows up on a trailer. On tomorrows post you'll see that this ended up being a good choice.

Friday was a great day. We put in just under 100 miles.

Hello to you too Pete...

Good times all around and good to meet a few new people.

KLR pad issue has been addressed :deal I went online and did some digging and found the axle spacer on the caliper side appeared to be a bit thicker than required. Replaced it with a new thinner version and the pad is no longer able to fall out and its a lot easier to put the rim on  no more prying required to wedge it in the swing-arm.

After 5 years of dealing with that problem and replacing pads before they're due its finally fixed :clap

Thanks again to Matt for securing the site, Mike for leading, and everyone else for showing up and having a good time.
