[ quote=windmill]It's final drive will last longer than a BMW's. Obviously you mean the final drive on a BMW solo machine and NOT a sidecar! All this carp about BMW final drives etc being crap, I can understand solo guys getting upset when their final drive gives trouble but sidecar guys need to look closely at the weight and load the put on these final drives [/quote]
Trying not to let this thread get too far off subject... I respectfully disagree with the entire premise of the above quotes... Response moved to this tread, where the BMW final drives have already been discussed. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12881936#post12881936 ----- BTW - I liked the pic of the bicycle!
The comment was made in the spirit of humor, a joke, I intended it to be a ridiculous statement about a wildly exaggerated "issue". I never thought a comment made in jest comparing a toy to a real motorcycle would be taken literally by anybody.
Okay, everyone step back, take a deep breath and RELAX!!! It's all good fun, no one is taking pot shots at German engineering here, just a cute little toy sidecar I thought yawl might enjoy..... No need to take it any further than that gentlemen......
Amen, I thought outfit's comment was funny and clever, I didn't see it as anything but that. I foolishly thought I was making a harmless comeback to a good joke.

I thought you're reply very witty and totally harmless.........................then again, I am thick skinned . Harmless fun I say.
As mentioned elsewhere, I took it as a joke as well. I was responding to LeighSA's post and taking it out of this thread because I didn't want it to affect the light tone here. {I DID say in my post that I liked the bicycle....} And speaking of interesting assymetical vehicles... Did you all see the plane that I want to fly in? German BV-141, ca. 1940 Is it a sidecar plane, or a side-plane, or???
These were designed by the French to fly in circles, that way they would neither advance or retreat and thus not become the butt of French "surrender" jokes.
Why not? We treat your Ural with almost the same 'respect' as a Hardly Drivensome.... There, feeling much better - having insulted someone who really doesn't deserve it - I can go riding now and flip-off traffic. Folks - it's a lovely day out there, just put down that mouse, and slowly back away from the keyboard...... Cheers Jim
