Hey there, I want to ride primarily back roads, but mostly direct from southern Vermont to Asheville, NC Anybody got a .gpx file for me? Il be on an XR with a Garmin Edge 605 and a bicycle on the back Also need a Honda shop about 600 miles from here to get the oil changed. If anyone can help, much appreciated
Yeah, I just (forgive me for sounding dumb) have to borrow a catch pan? I haven't really traveled far before. I was always a one nighter and woods rider
Pack oil & filter. Stop at a small town garage and offer $20 if you can change your oil and borrow a pan.
Thanks for the advice I'm going to take a short trip first down to Narragansett cause I talked with a shop down there that said the riding is doable on the mtb. That'll get me to my oil change and then I can do it at home and then be ready to take a trip like NC and not have to bother at all. I gotta do a shorter shake down trip with the new rack for the bike anyways to see if it's perfect. I think perfect will be to have my buddy make it out of aluminum next
If you want a backroad route, look at the TET and TET-S threads at the top of this page. It goes from Maine to the gulf coast in Florida, so VT to NC would be a subset of it. It doesn't take you into Asheville, but it gets you close. All mapped, scouted, and finalized - just need a GPS.
If you carry a filter, you can probably do your oil in a Walmart parking lot for under $20. But knowing where the Honda shops is would be smart for if you break any parts.
You still looking for a file? I did this basic trip last year but had to take the slab from RI to Harrisburg PA but from there I have a pretty good route. Hit with with a PM and I'll see if I can shoot it to you.
Oh yeah, if I'm able to help you, or even if I'm not, I'm always looking for a source for Heady Topper.
