Stormdog, we did ride the route from SF to San Ignacio. we hit it on our way back so we rode it headed north. we didnt leave San Ignacio until around 1pm so we camped one night on a beach just south of the baja norte, sur line. this route was one of the highlights of the trip for sure. its about 140 miles, we got gas at El Barril then headed on into bay of LA. the route didnt have anything too hard, a few san washes and beach riding but was a blast. definitly a small bike route though!

Freaking awesome place out there, nice and lonely. That would make for an excellent adventure fly in with the little airstrip. Water still too cold for a swim I imagine:ear

    Beautiful photos of the bay:clap

yes, water was a bit cold, although I had to get in to wash all my clothes since by plastic flask holding my wiskey cracked and emptied all over my clothes! the whales were swimming through which was really cool, it was so calm you could hear them breathing!!

    EPIC!!

    Great pics.

There is a little rancho just east of the T that has gas. Don't remember the name, but very well kept

Dozer, looks like we just had the same trip. Francisquito was outstanding. Yes, gas there and delicious fish tacos! We stayed 2 nights and, with a good book, would've stayed one more.

Pancho "Roadrunner" at San Rafael...made great tacos for us

The ride to Francisquito from Bay of LA is approx 90 miles. There's lots of washboard and some rocky sections that can rattle the bike pretty good. My buddy's newish GSA blew its rear shock on this section, so try to pack light and make sure your litrebike is in good shape.

Once in Francisquito, relish in the tranquility and simplicity of this remote place. You can really waste away here. The food is good and beds comfy. AM sunrises are epic, and the host family wakes up a bit late, so make sure to bring your own coffee apparatus. ;)

If you're interested in fossils, Howard at the south end of the beach might show you his secret fossil garden:

Just after Rancho Piedra Blanca, on your way back west to El Arco, there are some beautiful cave paintings called "El Carmen". Ask around for em.

Enjoy this very special part of Baja.

I'm making this trip next month. Looking at a map, are these cabins north of the airstrip or down by the south end?

    Thank in advance!

South end. Try to get there before dark or it can be a little hard to find.

We stayed there in March of 2013 there was gas and the food was great, Beer was cold and very nice people. This doesn't help the questions from 2013 but if you go there it is well worth the miles.
