I know some of you on here give ya batteries quite a work out on the side of the road. What do you suggest as a replacement. Stopped north of Raglan today on the road to Waingaro and it no wanna start. Its got the old battery blues. Crash started as stopped o hill and headed for home hanks
I have to say that I am amused by this, given the shit you've given Padmei & me of late Igormortis is running a Motobatt. They seem to have a good name. There's some tests somewhere that showed them to hold charge really well. Mine is currently a no name lead acid something, that has hung in there for a couple of years. I'll probably go Motobatt when that dies, just for the sealed AGM battery tip over capacity.
me give u shit, come on we are all here to help. now i did a search on Motbatt and the 3rd hit that came up in NZ was from kiwibiker. now I got all excited and thought to myself this is gunna be great Padmei or Boxa bit is gunna be the poster. How disappointed I was when it a Honda ST1300 owner whom bought a battery off Matt at Batterycell in Pet ONE. Gave Matt nothing but the thumbs up and only $105. So I also looked and found the NZ agent for importing these is Whites Wholesale in Hamilton. We do seem to be the center of the universe for motocycle accessories in NZ. . Whites - Nationwide and Dolds so i went to Whites and see RRP is $242. Well the last one lasted 7 yrs and was replaced on the side of the road when the previous one died on a Labour Day ride to Ohope, Geez what day is it today. now reading the herald online this morning and saw this article http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?objectid=10841567 and while reading it whose names sprung to mind of motorcycling equivilents thanks Steve PS - my middle name ant "Roadside Repairs" PSS you spied Colebatchs latest ride. now this will be ood. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=834987
Here's the Motobatt abuse review for you. I must be a MG GTB kind of guy - cheap . Don't know that I fall into the midlife crisis bucket though. Thanks, hadn't seen Colebatch's latest (or actually I had, but thought it was a continuation of the last one). The airhead rider would be Prutser, on a modified R80ST. His bike is fairly special. He's been posting over in Airheads in ADVrider
Motobatts are pretty cheap actually - I don't think I paid ore than $150ish? I've got a small one (yeah yeah) & it starts great even when on cold mornings & is quite lite. The recommennded size ones are about twice the size but will prob last longer. The AGM is good technology.
I run a motobat in the race bike....total loss....good for a whole weekend and then some... got mine of TM via Cycletreads...$200 ish I think but its a big 'un. they can post them to as no acid sloshing about
Cole batch has put as a sticky so easy to find. do u have a link for the R80St as i see Hardwaregirl has mentioned it but I dont think i have come across him before. Live a sheltered life here in the Waikato. Koko will tell you sheltered by fog but it ant true
Prutsers hasn't done a single thread on it - there are snippets all over the place In the ST registry, read from post 606 onwards. That'll give a flavour. There's some photos from the Colebatch trip as well I see you've been into his profile now, so no doubt have seen some of his postings
i just did a search in his Inmate profile. all the kiwis ben checking him out. he will be getting paranoid. speaking of paranoid we got a guy called "paranoid" in Hamilton. yip thats his first name and I see a kid the other day and his first name s "Porn" lucky bastard NOT thanks for the links steve
rang a local shop who stocks the Motobatt battery. Had 2 in stock. Went for the big mother due to my light weight will hold the bike to the road better. $170 was the price. MBTX30U now I just gotta go grab it.
I just replaced the battery in the 640 Adventure: LC4 Shorai Battery installation Didn't look at motobatt after I'd found these (the OEM Yuasa is AGM also). They are not the highest quality LiFePO4 out there but I was prepared to give them a go given that the local support, performance and price are all good.
I have a Motobatt battery in mt F650GS. Never had a problem. Any battery town outlet shoyuld have them or be able to get them in overnight..
