The current is not as good if the updates on the 2015 are important to you. For me the CC would be a huge benefit. Also, even though I found my Tiger 800 to get pretty good mpg (avg. ~58.5mpg over 32k miles) the new one is supposed to be more efficient.

I am sure this updated Tiger is a great bike just like the last generation. I'm also sure the suspension will be its weak point.

    Then don't buy one,

    Seems simple enough,

Looks like a worthy gravel cruiser to me.

That blue XRx really works for me. I think it could well be my next bike. Not sure if i can wait a few years...

...and i really rather like the extras it has. None of them are essential to me, but together they make a nice package:

    - comfort seats
    - adjustable windshield
    - hand guards
    - Cruise Control
    - Trip Computer
    - second power socket
    - centre stand
    - riding modes

i would just need to add heated grips and luggage and it would be sorted.

That lot plus the improved fuel economy, the (in my opinion) better form, the other slight engine and gearbox improvements.....:clap

AND, as i will be living where there are a lot of gravel roads, that little plastic bash guard should come in rather handy too. Great bike all round...:jive

So when are dealers supposed to have the 2015's available?

Don't know but I'm thinking of trading my Hyper for one. So much more versatility. I've been looking at 800 Tigers for awhile. I start to consider other bikes but always come back to the 800.
The biggest decision, XR or XC? Do I need the 21" front or will the 19" suffice. Never going to single track but love cruisin' dirt roads. :norton

Like you, I'm thinking about trading my 06 Multistrada. I've yet to get a ride on an 800 but it did own the first year Tiger, a 1995. I trust that things have changed a bunch since then!

I think the painted bits on the sides of the tank and radiator look a lot nicer than the original. But the whole point of the unpainted black plastic was that it's cheap to replace, which is good because when this bike goes down, even with crash bars, those plastic panels get ruined. I've replaced a few of mine after some tip overs, and they were always cheap. I wonder how much these fancy painted parts will cost.

I'm not sure if they are painted, or just a lighter color injection molded plastic? Can't tell from the picture.

I find that blue XRX quite nice looking though.

Looks like they made the OEM handguards bigger for better wind protection. Great motorcycle.

I asked this over in the Beasts section.

But I will throw it out here also.

Is it safe to assume that the new ride by wire system will eliminate the stepper motor linkage/dust issue?

I don't see how they are related but, I think that was mostly a QC and or design issue that needed to be addressed independently. Also it was a pretty minor issue to deal with and something most owners never had to worry about. I put 33k miles on my Tiger and its pretty dusty in AZ and I never had a problem.

Never said it was much of an issue.
But I was thinking fly by wire would emiminate the need for a manually actuated stepper linkage

I am a Tiger fan, I have owned both a Steamer and a Girlie, both were good bikes. Will most likely end up with a new 800.

I prefer the 19" wheel and beak less XRx, but I prefer the WP suspension of the XcX over the Showa of the XRx. Wish the WPwas on both...

Anyone have any more current updates on this topic?

I see they are cutting deals on the 2013 800s, but I am still on the fence.

    ST/2015 Tiger vs 2013 Tiger/etc etc
