Didn't see this thread anywhere else, so here it is. What was your first car? Did you love it? Do you still have it?

I've got mine. '78 Chevy Impala, bought in 2000 from the original owner with something like 80,000 miles on the clock. Drove the wheels off of it at college, only car when I was first married, and her name's Gina.

The day I brought it home:

    How it looks now. :cry

It isn't being neglected anymore, its not parked 600 miles away, and hopefully, some of my long laid by the side plans will finally come to fruition. :clap

    Whaddya'll got?

    And you didn't keep it?!

Don't feel too bad. I'm seriously questioning my sanity here. Gina might just end up as a demolition derby car- Send her out with a BANG! :norton

1993 Nissan NX2000, it handled great, had some decent power, those t tops, it was a hatch so I could put tons of stuff in there, and it got near 40 MPG. Gas was under a buck a gallon at the time so road trips happened all the time, if we were bored why not drive across the state?

I wish they could make something like it today......and maybe redo the front styling :lol3

I had a '71 Malibu with a 350 and a 4 speed trans, I loved that car but ultimately I smashed the front end up and junked it. Life was definitely more fun back then and less complicated.

This one is similar to the one I had minus the vinyl top and mine had magnum 500 style wheels.

1975 AMC Matador, red like this one.

I was given it when I was 15 (1986), and my parents sold it before I actually got my license. I drove it a few times, cleaned it and worked on it a little... so technically it was my first car.

Cut to 2012 and I'm still not sure what to think about the body style / styling of them. :huh Either it could have been pretty cool to fix up, or it would always have remained ugly... still not sure.

1982 Mustang GT. Built it over a year. Silver, black leather, 347 stroker and Nitrous.

Loved that car! Totalled it hitting a deer while racing my cousin in his Corvette. I was winning.

Ever see what a 12pt Buck does to a Mustang at 140mph? It isn't pretty...

So your parents decided to torture you as well....no one would ever voluntarily buy one of these on their own unless they were seriously delusional - I wanted a Mini-Cooper

Wish I still had it! 1957, Chevy B210, two door wagon. Dad bought it new in 1957 for $1,700. Turned it over to me as my daily driver in 1971 -- a year before I got my license :evil

We sold it in 1976 for $1,600.

This was taken after a repaint in about 1974 or so with about 130K on it. The top and inside the chrome fins are original color. Original paint wasn't available so we went with a shade or two lighter. Six cylinder, three speed, overdrive. I think the only option was heat. I added a kick ass 8-track, 6x9 speakers in wooden boxes, and of course shag carpeting :lol3

BRG just like this one. Paid $150 for it, did a valve job, new top, carpets, exhaust, etc. Drove it for a couple of years and sold it to buy a '65 Corvair Corsa 140hp, very modified.

Don't miss the Alpine, still wish I had the Corsa.

When I was 15 or so my mom was looking for a used car to drive. Somehow I talked her into this : :lol3

'69 SS396 Camaro, M-22 rock crusher, posi rear. Ours was the same color as this, hugger orange, but had a black vinyl top, dog dish hub caps, chrome stack hood instead of the high rise, no spoilers. It was, as Camaro's go, a bit of a sleeper looking car, a plain Jane grocery getter with the exception of the SS and 396 badging.

I took my drivers test in it and YES, I still wish I had this one. As an adult I tracked it down to Arizona somewhere and lost the trail.
