I'll be staying at the Residence Inn in downtown New Orleans in a couple of weeks, near the Superdome. I will be there for 4 nights, and am not happy with the hotel's parking options.

Does anyone know of a good parking garage close to the hotel? I am already looking at paying $22 per day in the open air, fenceless, gateless lot across the street from the hotel. I wouldn't mind paying a little more to have my GSA in a parking garage, or a lot that has security. Does the convention center have a parking garage?

    Thanks!

Are you locked into that hotel? I stay at the Hotel Provincial on Charters and parking is in a courtyard with no access by folks not staying there and when I take my bike down, I park free. It's in an open courtyard and not covered but VERY safe and the hotel is in a great location for what we do. It's less and 100 yards from the French Market. Just a thought.

I'm afraid I am. My wife is a Mary Kay Sales Director, and I am traveling to NO to attend a shin dig for her. There is a group of directors and their husbands staying at this place. But as always, she flies with everyone else and I ride my bike!

I would google New Orleans Tourism or French QTR or anything similar to find info. There has to be secure pkng somewhere nearby.

Any inmates here that live close to downtown New Orleans (close enough for a taxi ride) who would be willing to let me park my bike in their secured garage for a few days in January, a Wednesday night to mid-day Saturday?

Worth a case of beer to you!

there's covered parking at Harrah's and the Hilton for sure. Also, at the Holiday Inn, I think, on Loyola.
And the Dominion Tower, right next to the dome has covered parking as does the Hyatt which is right there.
You might be able to park in the dome's parking lot.

That is a pretty commercial part of town and there should be lots of options. There is the 1515 Poydras bldg and the PanAmerican bldg, both on poydras and with covered secure parking
check out these sites, the second one looks pretty good.

I am going to be out of town during the middle two weeks of Jan, and I live in the "uptown" "university" area. Not that far from downtown, but not walking distance--streetcar or cab- 5-6 miles; chances are you're just going to park your bike and not use it while you're here.

It is too bad you can't stay in the quarter though.

    just an FYI
A letter to the editor in Friday's paper complained about having their car stolen from a lot where and like you describe. Did not mention whose lot it was. Found the car on blocks and stripped in NO East the next day.

    Yeah. Go covered and secure

I am a little too far out or I'd let you park here. Parking in downtown NOLA sucks. It'll always cost you. I have stayed at that Residence before. The location is really very good in terms of its proximity to stuff. Harrah's Casino is fairly close and they have a great, safe, security patrolled, camera monitored garage. It's about 4 blocks away. Maybe a 5 minute walk. Play with Google maps and see what you think. If you piss away a little money in the casino, they might cut you a break on the rates.

In the event that "a couple of weeks" is still to come, best of luck with the parking situation -- but don't miss the crawfish etouffe at Mullat's (Cajun restaurant) on Tchopotulis St near the River Walk !

(When you get old you fantasize about -- food. . . .)
