[IMG]Hi Guys and greetings to all.

I am about to embark on a little trip and I decided to give it a shot to a mudgard I have been hoarding for a while, that I purchased secondhand in Germany and I thought it was a direct fit for my R80G/S.

However, yesterday, on dress rehearsal I found some challenges.
I am pretty sure the thing is an Acerbis specific for this bike, however there are two holes on each side and those do not fit the original G/S fork brace in any kind of way.

So far the best choice is to cut the sides of the fender to make it sit on the top of the fork brace and then use the four screw holes of the latter. I really do not want to do any extra drilling to the fork brace and rather cut the plastic fender instead.

The question for the forum is, does anyone have the same mudguard and can show/tell how it was fitted?

I am really done with the high mudguard. It may be very macho enduro shit but I rarely venture into dirt with the monster and for the road it is a pain above 120Km/h. I do not think the low mudguard will affect much aesthetics.

I would much appreciate your input.
    Cheers all

I cannot upload the pic it returns a broken link.

Can't open the link but you should look for an R80ST front fender..lower but it doesn't use the same steel fork brace..it uses one less sturdy since it was made for the street.

Hi Greg I actually inserted the hyperlinks above.
I have the mudguard which is what the pics are about.
This mudguard is common in Germany for the G/S I just do not know how do they fit it on.
I suspect without the fork brace.
    Thanks

I grabbed the HTML code, seems to work :D

About the fender: I have to dig in the parts pile but I think I have the same one NOS with the hardware included. Or I had one in the past but never fitted it, I'm not sure. I think you are right about having to ditch the brace, might have been to much hassle for me back then but I have to check first. Spare me till tomorrow please.

Last two pics are of my G/S fork with (I think /6) brace and 19" wheel. Seems like it would work with this brace. No idea of the G/S brace, never had one. I think you can get the fender mounted between brace and fork leg. It is cramped and fiddly but it might just fit. You'd need to put the mount just below the gaitors, don't put those gaitors to high up, you might get frowned upon by some inmates. Hope the pice are helpful to you, I'm to lazy to take off my fender and mount the Acerbis one :D

    Great Stuff jellycow!
    The bad news are
    a. I do not have the acerbis brackets
    b. I prefer to retain my fork brace as it is an upgrade and had a reason to it.

So it looks like I will be cutting the fender, but I have to be careful about it. Do not want such piece of plastic to cut loose for any reason and block my wheel while traveling at 120Km/h

Damn! I wanted this to be an easy fit...

Thanks a lot for saving me loads of time.
