The last post said to put in on the left fork tube, but the one I'm on now has no direction and no bike has it in the same place. My current sticker is almost unreadable and will need to be replaced soon. To be honest, it's a bitch for the gate guards to see it on the fork and I am looking for some ideas. Where is it on your GS?<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

<BR>Make a thin aluminum plate to fit between the windshield and the windshield mount, so the plate rests behind the windshield.

Edit: Paint it with some low gloss black before applying the sticker. Rattle can Rustoleum black lacquer, and Rustoleum matte clear lacquer top coat, gives a nice rich matte black.

I've seen guys who have made a small plate for the sticker and then bolted it to the front left caliper (easy to remove). Most of the non-fork leg bikes had them on the windshield.

<BR>I've seen that too, but a random plate under the caliper mounting bolts isn't a good idea. The fender mounts maybe?

They just used a spacer washer and longer caliper bolts. Looked OK to me.

Was it difficult figuring out who the KOTL was?

I thought about the brake caliper idea, but I'm just not comfortable going that route.

I cut a small piece of Plexiglas and fixed the sticker to it. It has velcro on the back which is fixed to a Touratech windscreen stabilizer. Have had zero issues with it.

    I like the plate idea.

Those stickers are notorious for not peeling off well and making a mess. Such a pain trying to clean off.

02 1150 GS- The PO was a military guy as well- no problem removing his DOD sticker and the condo association stickers (several of them) from the fork tubes. Razor blade and GOO Gone. Stuff is awesome- takes the nasty residue away and left no evidence I had used it on the metal. Try it somewhere invisible first if you are worried- it is a type of solvent. YMMV

I will be putting my sticker right back on the left tube.

    Happy Riding!

I guess I am different. On my 12GS I put the stickers on the fender in front of the front fork. There is a flat bit on the edge where I put the number/region sticker and I fit the DOD part above that. That makes them horizontal and easy to read.
    cheers

I used to have a plate on the left fork leg that I put the sticker and the registeration sticker on. I got new stickers last month and the Petty Officer issuing the stickers walked out to the bike with me and insisted that I put them at the bottom of the windscreen just above the headlight. He said they are trying to get them to be consistent so the gate guards don't have to search for the stickers. Not really sure I like them there, but I have never been on to argue with a watchstander, so one they went.

Fender. Keeps the gate guards guessing. :rofl

I can't used the the the lower fork since the inspection guy insisted it HAD to go there. I would suggest the bracket... aluminum or plexiglass... looks more professional. I'm just too lazy. Fender works just fine though if you're pressed for time.

FPCON precludes stickers here so it's moot for me..thought it was 100% ID check at all bases now anyway, even back in the 'States.

    I'd lose the sticker entirely.
