Yes, works great on my G/S... mine is 13mm. Easy two-finger wheel locking braking that is easily modulated.

Congratulations BTW! It looks like I might make it to Eindhoven this September for work and I'll buy you a beer to celebrate! (if you are close enough that is!)

Well, no baby yet, it was a false alarm again (3rd one in 4 days.) so we'll have to wait a bit more. Any day now, I'm anxious to see this little girl in person!

Buy me a beer? I ought to buy you one since I wouldn't have done the swap without this thread. Drop me a pm when you know for sure, I'm only 45 minutes away from Eindhoven. We'll see if our shedules can march. Now, back to paining the room for me, tonight is garage time again.

Oh boy, there's alot of reading here to figure out what's needed.
Thinking about doing the WP forks om my '91 GS in the near future.

I have a brand new and complete set of triples with bearings from my 2009 KTM 450 EXC.
Outside of getting the forks and wheel/brake/etc., what's the simple anser here?
    Replace the stem or?
Sorry for my lack of time to read 52 pages :D

When I bought my forks the stem was shortend for the BMW steering head but for some reason it was not slimmed down for the inside of the bearing. (IIRC: KTM uses 19mm and BMW 18mm.) So I had the stem pressed out and turned down a bit. Plus, we welded the stem at the same time, PO only pressed in a steel rod. Fits well now, but no testride yet...

The easy way out would be to buy a set of tripples with stem from any of the vendors mentioned in this thread (bmwboxertoko.nl is my personal favourite, because they are near and I like the guys working there.) If the use of the KTM tripples does not work out as intended and funds permit I will use the boxertoko ones. For now there are more ugent ways to spend money :rofl

I have a 50mm WP forks and I understand that I will need to change brake rotor to 320mm length for better braking power.. What should the bracket adapter look like to work with it? Would this work?

    Thanks in advance for answering..

What year and model bike are they off of? The 640 series had different bosses for the calipers than the SX series woods bikes......it makes a huge difference. What size was the original rotor? I got my rotor and caliper bracket from HE in Germany.

Hmm could be a problem.. I think mine came off a 300 or 500, not s 640. I can't be sure.. Any other alternative to find out? Like measure the hole to hole diameter?

A picture of the forks/mountingbraked will help. Regards

I'm no expert, but there were 2 different fork lowers. You just have to determine which one you have. If you measure center to center I can check mine which is off of a 125SX. If they match, we at least know you originally had a 260mm rotor.

Using digital caliper, the measurement was 68.31mm from outside hole to outside hole. (for brake, not for wheel)

    Pics..

Edit: Measured old brake rotor and it is 10 1/4" which comes to 260mm rotor.

Center to center is around 58mm. Looks like that bracket will work....

Hi and Happy Father's Day to all fathers!!

Ok so the 320mm rotor arrived few days earlier than I expected and I was like a kid on Christmas day! Ok So rotor was not the only part I ordered that arrived.. there were many parts that came in earlier than expected.. :clap

    Got busy with the rotor..

Not sure if I need spacer on that part or not? Wheel seems sturdy but I am not sure??

Here is brake caliper.. I think I am supposed to remove short bracket and replace it with large relocation bracket..

How do I get to the bolt (supposed to be Allen Wrench?)

Was told if I try to pull that rubber piece I would rip it off??

I tried to find instruction online and this is the closer I could find but I still need some help.. a better instruction on how to remove the bracket. I tried google diagram for brembo brake for the KTM caliper.

The original bracket stays with the caliper and is bolted to the relocation bracket....but the caliper is attached with slider pins on the bracket. Separate the 2 a bit and grease those pins!! Look again at the pic I posted of my setup.

Figured out how to disassemble bracket and tried it on new bracket.. but no go! I've contacted retailer to see if there is a way to exchange for correct bracket or at least partial refund so I can look for correct bracket.

    Update:

To Peanuts credit, he found this solution so I am going to return the relocate bracket for partial refund, and wait for used brembo bracket to arrive this week. While I am waiting for it to arrive, I am going to go ahead and hack the one I have on hand so it will be ready to install when second one arrive. :clap
