Hi all, 25 june will be the start of a 28 day trip true scandinavia together with 2 of my friends. We have been planning this trip some months now, and d-day draws closer each day... a few more nights. About the journey, the rough id is to keep a good tempo until we're past the border of Finland. Where we'll try to do lots of gravel and maybe slack off a day or 2, untill we reach the Nordkapp. Where we will meet up with our friend Pia, whom also be traveling norway with a big yellow bus. once we're chat up we will be traveling down again, spending a day on Senja and on to the Lofoten. where we will take the ferry Sorvagen - Bodo. From where we will crawl down again enjoing the scenery. It will be mostley wildcamping, so any suggestions on where to go, must see or buy food/drinks etc would be much appreciated. A rough id of the route the bit more detailed one: https://maps.google.be/maps/ms?msid=207109764958720741488.0004de423e92b981e3377&msa=0 I'm guessing we will be doing about 9000km The merry lot who will go on this endeavour: The bikes we will be using are: 2x xt660z and a f650gs We will try to catch some wifi rays so we can keep you guys up to date In the route i marked, we will be taking the E6 in norway, but i prefer the 17 with the ferrys depending on what day we get there...
the tenere's maintanance is done! -new oil, filter -new chain and sprockets -valve clearance adjusted -removed the swingarm and filled it up with grease -blinded the exhaust to the gashousechamber, stopping that maddening plopping -new tyres, heidenau k60 front and rear, hoping these will last the trip ready for the north:
Have a nice trip, we will leave Gothenburg in Sweden at 22 June. We will go along road E45 up to Nordkapp then down to Lofoten. Then the ferry to Bodo and down along road RV17 in Norway. I´ll look out after you guys, we´re riding two up on an R1200GS -13.
Have a safe trip. I'll be following along wherever you go and by the looks of it, you'll be in good shape mechanically. I wish I could say that but I do know how to put gas in at most pumps! Good luck! Gary "Oldone" Grampas Lake Superior Ride Grampas National Monument Ride
Hello. That sounds like a great tripp. Through Sweden intead of going along the coast on the highway. I would recomend the so called "inlandsvägen" Google it and you' l see what i mean. (I can not upload pics at the moment) Sure the coastline is nice but the road and traffic isn't that much fun. Look it up and decide for your self. Have a nice trip.
Hope it goes well, should be a great trip. I'd love to do the same sometime, keep us updated!!! Good luck.
Thanks! I think we might go for a quick change of plans! Looking at the pictures 'round the E45 it surely seems interesting!
We were there last year ....too cool.....Have a nice Trip! in our movie you can see the nordkap already
You will have a blast! Spare lots of time for the Norwegian coast and the islands. I especially enjoyed the boat trip from Bodo to Rost and then further on to the bird islands. Have a look here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=597134
The bikes are ready to go! My bike: Stijn's bike: Pieter's bike: He's not ready yet... . Tomorrow's the big day, let's hope the weathergods are kind! Grtz, Simon
Here are some pictures of the past days, a full ride report will be posted when we are back home! (Not much wifi available) We are in Mehamn at the moment. The view from our hotel room in Puttgarden the first night. Nice food! Some repairs after a small crash... One of the very few times we had sun instead of rain... Now I'm in desperate need of new rear brake pads due to the bad weather and hundreds of kilometres of gravel in Finland... I've been looking for new brake pads the past 4 of 5 days but none of the local dealers could help me. At last a yamaha dealer in Tana helped me by calling the Yamaha dealer in Trømsø. They have ordered the pads and I will be able to collect them there in 3-4 days. We've done 4250kms now, still 20 days and 4000 more to go! Grtz, Simon
Looks really like a nice trip you´re doing. We (www.motorcykeleventyr.dk) plan to do the trip Next year, sp this is really a nice RR already ;-)
Looks good! I did the Nordkapp trip last year, and I certainly want to do it again someday... Looking forward to the rest of the report, goed bezig!
