Off to the Honda dealer for parts...Nice day in SoCal

I need wheel bearings for a '75 CB750 project bike, so let me run over to Huntington Beach Honda. Weather wise, southern CA is really nice right now. Clear, cool with views that seem to go on forever. These are "1% days" in SoCal. We don't get more than a few of these days a year.

The little trip to the dealer turned out to be 50 mi and a couple hours. Just a few shots with my crappy cell phone, but I thought I would share anyway..

Went a little north first to Signal Hill for the 360 degree views.

Looking SW across the top of downtown Long Beach out over the Pacific to Catalina Island. Just to the right of the white dome is the Queen Mary

This is facing east toward Santiago Peak, best know as Saddleback Mtn. This small mountain range divides Orange and Riverside counties. The top of the peak is 5500' and is accessible by bike, when the forest service actually leaves the gates open to get up there.

In the distance is downtown L.A. framed by the San Gabriel Mtns

I made it to the dealer, I like these

Quite a backyard, eh?

Good food, with the occasional auto that comes through the front door, hence the construction. Just gotta watch where you sit!

Schooner or Later from Long Beach is opening soon in Sunset Beach, usually good eats
[IMG]

Last shot is a residence in Sunset. The original water tower that sat dates back to the late 1800's. This place sold for nearly $5mil a few years back. But you can rent it for $4k week for your next vacation

Thanks for looking.

Nice little tour, Sam. Thanks.

Used to live in West LA, near Santa Monica and Bundy. Your area wasn't my backyard, but still been down through there a few times, mostly about 20 years ago.

Those Honda scoots look like very good city machines!

Ya, but Tony, it's a dry cold.:lol3

Thanks for checking in RRR. So you've been 'Californiaized', sorry about that. But nice area, UCLA, Santa Monica Mtns and all the state parks it has to offer. Hopefully you got to take advantage of some hiking and biking trails in that area. I used to spend some time in those area's many decades ago.

You actually have a dealer that stocks parts? :eek1

The constant phrase at LV bike shops is: "We can order that for you." :lol3

I'll echo that reaction. No KLR parts of any kind, not even an oil drain plug washer, to be had from the Kawasucki dealer here. But they can "have it in a week."

Outlaw MC gangs are known as one percenters.

From this wikipedia page:
Some outlaw motorcycle clubs can be distinguished by a 1% patch worn on the colors. This is claimed to be a reference to a comment made by the American Motorcyclist Association(AMA) in which they stated that 99% of motorcyclists were law-abiding citizens, implying that the last one percent were outlaws. As a result, some outlaw motorcycle clubs used it to unite or express themselves and are commonly referred to as "one percenters". The comment, supposedly a response to the Hollister Riot in 1947,
is denied by the AMA—who claim to have no record of such a statement to the press, and that the story is a misquote.

Hey neighbor. Yes, that was a beautiful clear day. On my commute home from work, Huntington Beach to Seal Beach on PCH, you could see for miles. Sure glad it's warming up a bit again. By the way, we met a couple months ago on Seal Beach Blvd by the Starbucks. I was on the V-Strom going to meet some riding buddies for our Saturday morning thing. Hope to see you again out there.

Ah yes, the beautiful clear days in urban SoCal. Reminds me of my college days there in the late 60s...I'd love those few (usually breezy) days of crystal clear weather we'd get. Usually in early spring, so it's right on time.

Thanks for sharing.
