I just looked at the entry fee and looks like the Delux and the Basic package has been switched around...now the Delux is $260.00.

I paid for the Delux last week when the price was $220.00. Anyone know how this is going to work out?

I have under 80 miles range on my bike, is this enough for sandblast?

Probably not, looking at last year's stage schedule:

    http://sandblastrally.linaracing.com/2012/SB-Stage-Schedule.pdf

section 2 is 84 miles. Is your 80 mile range when you are riding easy or hammering the throttle? Less than 1/2 of that 84 miles is special stage, the rest is transit where you might just try to ride real easy and conserve fuel.

You can carry more fuel as long as it is NOT mounted on your body (i.e. in a backpack). Some guys strap a 1L MSR camp fuel bottle to the bike someplace. Might be enough for you to make it back to service.

About half way down the page and you'll see the class structure.

Thanks. Strategizing. (not that it will matter, I'll be last or close to it, but fun to think about)

Any thoughts on a heavier vs a lighter bike dealing with rutted sand toward the end of the pack? Momentum vs float?

Lighter bike, bring that little KLX 250 and have some fun. Finish position isn't important, the size of your grin is:lol3

If I finish, there won't be anything to stop me from being happy about it!

I barely ride the 250, so I'm not comfortable with it, feels whippy. That's why the 650 is still a possiblity. I'll take both to the Pine Barrens over the next month and decide. Thanks for the support!

Dawn: Let me know when you plan on coming down, we have a few practice sections that are similar to Sand Blast.

    Happy New Year to all.

KLX it is. Had a great time playing in the sand yesterday (sand was packed and heavy, but good warm up), floats over everything. I love the GS, but thanks for the push to the light side!

Cool, glad it worked out for you. Take Jack up on His offer if you can, working on your cornering skills should help you a lot. Best of luck!
