Not sure if this is where I post this???? But I'm in the middle of a TransLab ride on my HighAdventureTour and just had some serious engine failure... could use a pickup or trailer and a place to tear into the Desiree's engine 705cc KLR. I'm between Badger and Grand Falls Windsor Newfoundland... pushing the bike toward Grand Falls. I'll check for PMs later tonight if I have signal. Thanx, Jettn Jim
Thanx man.... Getting a ride into Grand Falls in an hour or sooo... I'll tear into her there if I can find shelter.
Someone, or several, will help. Take your time fixing the bike, and get used to drinking/partying in a shed. Good luck and make the best of it.
I have posted this on Ridetherock.com. with cell phone number. Best i can do. There is a Kawi dealer in GFW called Islander RV. They have helped me on the road before.
Sorry to hear about the down time on the KLR. I am in Pasadena on west coast. If there is something I can help with, PM me Rick
Hey thanx a million for the responses guys.... enjoying the twist of fate as we speak. Well as some of you know I'm on the tail end of my HighAdventureTour doing the TransLab... about 10mi back Desiree' pretty much seized up on me doin' about 75... I pushed her a Mile.2 then a GREAT GUY Harvey in NewfnLAND like Friendliness pulls up and says he'll be back with ramps... he comes back we load her up and off to Grand Falls-Windsor NewfnLand we go. He, his Beautiful wife and I talk and share Rum for 4hrs... now I'm camped out in the garage next to my beloved Desiree'. *Will open her up tomorrow and see if it's catastrophic/fatal.... Interesting twist to this final chapter in my ADVtouring career... I love how the universe works.... probably the best night of the ride soo far! Peace, JJ PS... having thoughts of leaving him and his boy Mike the bike... then hitchhiking across the TLab home??? oser We shall see........
Good to hear youre getting the hospitality we are famous for. Post up your findings on the machine. I am keeping Ridetherock folks updated via the info you provide. We have some KLRistas amongst us. We have a motorcycle used parts dealer in St Johns called Reids Motorsports, 726-2453 and the DRL bus lines is a cheap way to get parts from there to Grand Falls. Just got a post on RTR from Dirt Rider saying he has a pick up going to St Johns through Grand Falls on Thursday. And isn't it amazing how a bottle of rum can take care of the language barrier.
Newfoundlanders are good people. Enjoy your stay. It will all work out in the end. If there's anything we can do on this side of the border, give us a shout.
Hell, I had no idea... anyone travelling across the island...pm me and I will get you my numbers. I live in Grand Falls. anything else you need contact me via pm here.... hope everything works out!
Hey guys THANX for all the offers of support!!! Yup I'm here... actually at Harvey Days Cabin 'bout 50mi from GF-W and Partying with friends out here in Gods Country under a nearly full moon. Engine is toast fer sure, so I called my buddy Jenny and she shipped me out my ol' bigbore high compression engine (Wed) which should show up somewhere near Tues... it's a bit dodgy and I was gonna freshen it up before I ran it again... Buuuut what was I gonna do? Gonna throw 'er in and give it a run at finishing this TLH loop and get back home with it asap. I think I'll rent a car and drive to St Johns 2mro to pick up a tire and chain at the ToyBox, see some sights and get back here to do the swap Tues or Wed... If yer close and wanna have a drink PM me and we'll meet up. So far things have worked out Waaaaaay better than if I'd just ridden through..... FRESH Moose and Cod we caught yesterday near Trident and two nights up till after 3am actually after 4am 2nite LOL Life isss Goooood!. Thanx again, JJ
