Ok this looked so good I just popped off my exhaust. I am going to leave the cat in and get it jet coated. For those inmates thinking of this, its very easy to remove the exhaust. I had a 13mm small 1/4 socket with a universal joint. That seems to have made a lot of difference. Also remember if you cannot fit the torx in, some also have regular heads. The bracket near the footpeg came off with a 10mm wrench. Wonder how much the coating costs.....

Most of you are saying the heat is coming predominately from the left side. On my R, it seems to come mostly from the right side, i.e. CAT. I have a Black Dog skid plate, maybe that's the difference.

I have heat through the seat, and heat on both sides. While sometimes uncomfortable in hot weather, it was never a huge deal for me. Now I can't ride today because my pipes are at the coaters!!! That is a problem I blame mcguyver for.

On the subject of right side heat, note the color of the brake fluid, pretty much the same as mine.

Wings set the bar pretty high for this piece. It looks great just hoping it doesn't cook cpu etc.. under there.
Maybe some small snorkles to funnel more air under seat area to push heat out not trap it so much. Question is where to put them. :norton

I just purchased the new 1190, drove 100 miles got so irritate I put the bike for sell. I'm glad I found this!!! I will try spray the cylinder head and pipes first with ceramic coat, than I will figure out if the Wings are really necessary. (just try to avoid the extra $ after spend all this $) Any pictures from inside the Seat Cooler Wings? can we improve? maybe put a heat shield inside part? tks.

Just so you know they sell this stuff by the roll at lowes that has a sticky back. did basically the same thing on my 950, and stuck it on the inside of the tool well underneath; works brilliantly.

I'm researching this as a potential owner, looking to buy an 1190 R for 2015. Apologies if this has been covered somewhere, but is anybody solving this with a ECU map change, cat removal, and exhaust setup?

My exhaust is coming back from the welder today - will let folks know. One problem is it's temperature dependent - and its cooler here right now.
