Clearly there needs to be a thread for those of us die hard 1150 GSA owners who were clever enough to have purchased the last of the breed. There seems to be quite a few ADV-ers that ended up with them. So many and so passionate are we '06ers that we (okay, Eric Bertram from Ericsyn Motors) have started our own directory. Check it out: http://www.ericsyn.com/2006bmwr1150gsadv.html. Thanks Eric! The 2006 R 1150 GS Adventure Special Edition Model. Some say 100 were made and some say the number is more like 300. Some say 475 were made for the whole world. Some say these bikes are the result of a Law Enforecement Agency deal that went south and these are the progeny of that deal. All I know is that they are great looking, run well, and I love mine. Here it is soon after I bought it. Okay guys (and maybe gals), Post 'em up. And if anyone knows the real story on these beauties, please share.
Wasn't that just an 05 model that they called an 06, or were there any actual differences between the 05 and 06? It was always a bit confusing, 06 being an R1200GS ADV model year as well :huh
The earlier 1150 GSA model was what essentially inspired me to get into dualsport bikes. While I ended up on a series of KTMs through the auspices of ebay, Craigslist and a trip back east conspired last year to finally seat my on my initial dream ride ... Cross-country to purchase an '06 1150 GSA Couple other '06 1150 GSA rides: Baja w/street tires Offroad ride with "dirtbikes"
Now you are talkin. I get tired of reading about the 1200's. I'll keep my 06 1150 forever. post pics later
I worked hard at trying to find an '06 1150, and did. I spent good time and money bringing it fully back to a restored bike...mileage low but it was indeed properly used. I have a few bikes and needed room in the toy garage so had to get rid of one. In deference to it, it is being replaced by an on-order HP2Sport, but this 1150 was indeed a lovely, unpretentious bike. In the final analysis I believe my '07 Adventure a tad better bike, for a lot of reasons, but owning the coveted '06 was an honor and a privilege:
I have an insane love for my 06 ADV. I own a small dealership and have had hundreds of bikes come through here since I bought mine back in 05, and there is nothing I would rather ride.
I just had an idea... since there are so few of these bikes out there would anyone else be interested in participating in a registry? For example, my last three would be 446. As we're pretty sure there are no more than 300 out there, this should be enough, right? If I hosted it would anyone participate? E
