    Gents,

It looks like Santa Barbara is shaping up to be a small bike ride..

Question: Is 5Nf12 a single track? It seems to me I saw it while on the 950A and said to myself, "self, leave that for the little bike!"

Joel, since it is a relatively short ride to SB for me, I think I'll just go ahead and ride up. If anyone wants to meet me at the Camarillo Amtrak station right on the 101, I can do that. I'll be on the 525, it's feeling lonely lately .

    that's awesome jon.

ok jim. not sure what is 5n12? we'll find out and hoping that will connect us somewhere.

this frees up a space on my truck. biggie, if you want it, let's meet at my house before 6:30; or jonF, i can meet you somewhere on the 118.

those staging from summerland, let's decide where to meet, a park or anywhere we can leave the trucks.

Joel, my plan right now is to ride for a couple of hours with you guys then break off on my own. I'm going to try to hit Figueroa Mtn loop, Solvang for lunch, Refugio, W. Camino Cielo, spend some time in and around UCSB, ride through Hope Ranch, the Harbor, SB Mission then try to get home by dark. It's looking like around 400 miles. If I can ride up with you, that would save me about 80 freeway miles. That would be great. However, I wouldn't be riding back with you. Therefore, if jonF or someone else needs the ride, I will yield my spot to them and just ride up. Thanks either way.

That place you mentioned, Oceanview Park, on Greenwell seems like as good of place as any to park and meet up in Summerland.

    Biggie,

Your ride will require good route planning, and you to keep moving. It will be a LONG day. Bring your maps and maybe I can fine tune it with you. :deal Camping on Figueroa is supposed to be pretty good. FYI

Oh, and you do know USCB is out now...... :lol3 No COEDs :D

5N12 is best done on a trail bike, but rideable on an adventure bike. There will be a lot of pavement connecting the out and back fire roads. I'll be on my 510.

Is it open all the way from 154 to Refugio? No closed gate by the towers?

I will still only do from Refugio to the towers.

What's up Ben? Still working Saturdays? If by berg you mean my beat up, neglected Husky, yeah, I still have it. And I'll be riding it on bald knobbies tomorrow.

The El Rancho market is at the bottom of Refugio, where it meets the 246. Get to the stoplight and turn left and the parking lot is on the left. Good deli, and tables outside to eat on, I recommend the tri-tip. Fuel is to the right at the stoplight, just down the road a bit on your left.

The dirt section from the 154 to Refugio is easy. I have ridden it on my F800 almost every weekend recently.

Two weeks ago the road at W. Camino and Refugio was closed, really closed due to drainage construction. There was no way to get around it so I had to turn around and head back. Again, that was about two weeks ago. The project appeared to be well on its way to completion, so should be just fine now.

I live in SB, so if you guys have questions, just let me know.

Would love to ride, but wifes b-day weekend. (might be able to meet for coffee if you guys are still heading to Daily Grind, sounds like Summerland is the meet up spot though.)
