Clutch slave cylinder - OBERON vs Evoluzione

Thinking about replacing the crappy clutch slave cylinder that KTM was kind enough to fit on the super E... and have found two options, Evolutione and Oberon.

As far as i know the Evoluzione has proven its quality as bombproof and should be a good if not the best choice.

The Oberon is a new product, proberbly just as good, but i have not heard anything good or bad about it.

So give my your opinions!

Can't say anything about the Oberon as I don't have one. I do have the very first Evoluzione prototype on my bike and I have had no problems with it.

Have been running with the Oberon for about 5 months now, no complaints, and clutch release action definitely much smoother now.

+1 for Oberon.

Brilliant build quality with two o-rings, easy fitment and bleeding, smooth clutch action, much better gearchange than the rebuilt (re o-ringed at 38k km) original. 8k+ km so far & hasn't missed a beat.

Just do it!

30$ bucks cheaper for the Oberon

EVO has a 10 year warranty a spare set of seals included. oberon quoted over 50$ for their special seals both are available in orange now! soo 20$ advantage to EVO

Oberon Nice quality. They have been in the slave cylinder business for awhile, and make many types of replacement slaves. One thing their site does say, is that they don't use O-rings, but it is a machined U groove seal. I also like that the piston is also sealed from the rest of the unit, this should cut down on the amount of crud in the system that leaks by on the OEM unit (the piston is non sealed from the rest of the unit.)

+1 Oberon, installed this spring easily with no problems so far, much better clutch feel than stock.

Evoluzione gets props for customer service and expertise. Ken posts on this forum and is most helpful.

I've got the Oberon. Agree with all thats said about smoothness. Definitely inspires confidence with the seal and piston arrangement. One gripe though is the quality of the anodising. Mine is orange and fading after only 2k miles.

I did the Evo, easy install and excellent service, both customer and product.

With the GBP so low, $130 for the oberon.

I have the Orange Evo and have no complaints. It also looks cool on my 950.

I have had the Evo for about two years and 5K miles and no issues.

So, what about the "new" KTM (I assume Brembo?) slave cylinder?

If u read back afew posts u will see that I toasted the upgraded KTM/magura unit . I'm not aware of a Brembo slave .

How does the Evo differ in design?

I'm confused on this if the Oberon uses a u-groove seal.

What is there to replace "special seals" / wear-item wise on each design?

evo uses simple std size o-ring seals and includes 1 free set with the the kit. oberon uses a u-groove or u-pack seal design not so simple and they charge much more and do not supply spares with their kit. evo 10 year warranty. oberon 1 year. orange or black available with evo now! some want the bling! www.alternatecycle.com

Ah, I read u-groove as meaning a seal-less design. I guess this isn't correct. Since I'm on the other side of the pond I'd rather not have to mail order seals from the UK, doubly so if they are $$$
