I elect to capture it all. With a decent computer system (I'm sure you have one Geek) you can jog through 2 hrs of video in about 10min. Often some of my best video isn't detected till I review the files. Sort of like the way LEOs do it, film everything. 2 batteries and 2 16G cards will do an afternoon ride and 3 of each will get most of a day's ride for me.

Files with this new cam are going to be large, you're going to want USB 3.0 and plenty of HD space.

I have plenty of hardware.. I've just zero desire to wade through endless video. Perhaps I just need my friends to crash more often so no editing is needed... endless entertainment?

Besides... I enjoy the video in my head more (cuz I can make shit up :D )

They are lame. bulky, heavy, suck extra batt juice. I can definitly feel the added weight on my head with the bacpacs.

I wanna be able to shoot some NORMAL footage sometimes. With the 3, can you get rid of the fisheye? sometimes i just want an old fasioned "view". maybe ill just wait for the GoPro 10 to come out by next fall :lol3 . . .

I felt the same way, it added weight, was another item to charge. I like it simple on the trial.

From the videos I've seen of the new cam I don't think it totally does away with the fish-eye but the aspherical lens is how the highend cams are doing wide angle. The Hero XVIXVII will probably have it solved :D

I like everything so far. it just never does anything for perspective.

none of this matters to me, as my little brother is a GoPro sponsered athlete and i just wait for his hand-me-ups. its only fair as he was skiing on my skis when he 1st got sponsered. that was almost 10 years ago, now he's got his own model of skis now.

anyway, currently, cliff edges look like beaches compared to reality.

An aspheric is a lens whose radius of curvature changes with distance from the center of axis. Spherical optics maintain a constant radius of curvature. Aspherics correct geometric aberrations from high order terms that spherical optics don't account for because of the assumptions made in geometric ray tracing formulas. Aspherics, however, due suffer from not being to correction aberrations due to index of refraction changes across the visible spectrum called chromatic aberrations.

I am "sort of", in some of my work we are pushing limits of coherent imaging to 12 nm.

12nm will be our next size when the machines are perfected.

that would be 100 eV photons and can be achieved with Schwarzschild-optics incoherently. If the coherent imaging works at 12 nm, there would be nothing limiting (other than an x-ray lasers and materials compatibility) to get down to 1 Angstrom (0.1 nm).

I thought this was a requirement to join ADV forum... :1drink

I didn't even get into the nonlinear optical response of photoresist to 193nm ArF laser light for small scale lithography. :rofl
