    RIDE DATE: MAY 20,21,22 - 2011.

Hey Norm... has the snow melted off out there yet?

It is getting to be about time for our annual Spring Dinosaur Run. :ricky

Anyone interested in say the next 4 or 5 weeks?
It could be crammed into two really long days but best as a 3 day :lurk

Here are photos from last years run - we did it May 20th

    From local newspaper.

The only part on the Colorado side of the monument left to open is the remainder of Harpers Corner Road, which is closed at Plug Hat Butte.
The road is scheduled to open April 22, Johnson said.
“It’s taking a little longer because of snow and drifting they have up there,” Johnson said.
He said crews have dealt with layers of ice up to two-feet thick on the roads, and up to six feet of snow. (Snowing here now!!)

If the timing is right I am interested in tagging along. From Maybell to Browns Park I can give you a better route than the slab.

    Maybe a few of these.

When am I not interested? But this one's a "maybe" for me, gotta see how scheduling plays out.

Hopefully a KLR is a better motorcycle (read, reliable enough to make it through an entire ride without failure of some sort) than a BMW GS...

Edit... and Geek, :fyyff Thanks for costing me $0.25 more on my cell bill.

Unless it's on the weekend of the 13th of May, I'll entertain you with my appearance.
    Join up at Maybell?

    Sounds great!

    :stupid

Work is messing up schedules for the next few weeks, but weekends should be clear in May, and a 3-day not a problem.

...but it would have to be the five weeks out in your original post.

I'm in a OSHA wind safety class this weekend, preparing for finals the following weekend, then I'm doing volunteer work up on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation the week of May 7-15.

If you can hold your horses, it would be awesome (and warmer ) around May 20-22.

    Cheers! :freaky

I'm going to be in Steamboat for a clinical rotation starting May 9th. If this happens on a weekend sometime after that, I'm def. in.

Hmmm....note to self, find place to live in Steamboat soon.

I have two types of tracks.

The "intended route" which I made with google earth...
and then the "actual route" which bread crumbed out of my GPS - route changes being made on the fly by conditions/weather/etc.

...and I have 6 sets for the 3 times I've done a Dinosaur run.

Now whether I can actually find them on my hard drive or not is a different story.

As for this ride.. I'm thinking it might be a more of a "follow my nose" route linking various nuggets together along the way :ricky

We might need a good lock pick along... anyone have mad skills? :lurk

Anyone know a good file sharing site? I found a couple of my kmz (google earth) files from one of my rides out there
(actual tracks from ride photo'd in post 1). I can post them as both kml & gpx.

Note though: You can't follow the same route across the white river (unless you are the lock pick we need mentioned above :D)
