Will you buy the new 1190?

Will you buy the new KTM 1190?

  1. 1190R - Hell yeah, and I'm going to make it bigger, better and badder!

  2. 1190 - Yup, been waiting for this one. 150hp and 17/19s will KILL!

  3. Multistrada - I've gone/going for better street performance/electronics

  4. BMW GS - I like big heavy bikes - Go Charlie! Go Ewan!

  5. NO! I'm keeping my 950/990 forever (along with my typewriter, corded phone, film camera...)

  6. Really? We need a poll about this?

There's a lot of discussion pro and con about the new bike so I thought a poll would be an interesting way to see who's on board and which way they lean. Obviously it might (will) be skewed being here in OC but it might be interesting. Oh, votes will be private to protect your image.

Feel free to keep the discussion in the big 1190 thread.

If they made one with 990r ground clearance I'd buy a 21/18 version tomorrow....

I like how you didn't make the poll bias at all. You would be really good working for a big media company.

Cool bike, good to see forward movement. Personally, I am more interested to see the rumored 800ish new bike.

Actually I do work for big media companies (including BMW and Ducati) but the poll is mostly tongue in cheek since it's in Orange Crush. I also felt the need to keep the sarcastic aspect of ADV. I don't pick sides, I make fun of everyone.

You're right though, I should have added an option for the rumored (or rather wished for and not rumored) 800 v-twin.

One answer is missing. A lot of 990/950 riders out there including me are waiting for a +- 800cc twin Adv :evil <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

    Gregor,

How about adding an option à la:

"Not buying the 1190 but hoping for a more off road capable 800-ish sized twin now!"

I think there will be lots a few people that have been on the verge with the big singles being too small/vibey but a 950/990 being too heavy/complex/thirsty that will jump on this. Interesting alternative for those that don't like the 1190 for various reasons.

Edit: Just like both posters before me replied while I was writing... :)

Finances not withstanding......I'd love to have the 1190R to be able to use the power on the street and have a second gravel road capable bike so my son can ride to and explore Alaska with me. I'm keeping the 990 for the foreseeable future (because I love it), and yes, I would also like to have the mythical 790R for those hilly trails and Jeep roads that I always have to wait for a riding partner to come back and help me pick up the 990 on. Baby head hills and heavily loaded ADV bikes don't always play well together. If they come up with the 790R....I might even sell the 650 Husaberg to get it.......Seems like an awful lot of day dreaming doesn't it? :lol3

This bike should appeal to the folks who spend so much effort trying to make their 950/990 more resemble a BMW. :dunno

You can't edit the poll - or rather I can't edit a poll, so I've emailed admin to add the option of the mythical 800/700 v-twin to the poll. Not sure how long that would take but if it happens soon the numbers will even out.

Gotta say, I expected the votes for the "Really? We need a poll about this" which is why I added it but I honestly underestimated the number of guys that are disappointed and would rather keep their 990's Really, truly didn't expect that.
