Hi There from Central Australia. My mate Paul and I went for a ride to Kings Canyon for an overnighter, both of us had been there many times before so we didn't actually go to the Canyon so sorry there are no pics of that. We went mainly for the ride to get out of town for the weekend. We took the Merrinee Loop road via Hermannsberg to get there. In total it was a 315km ride there, then we returned on the black top which was just over 500km. Paul suggested we return the way we came on the Sunday but I said nah, lets go back on the sealed road, my bad, it was bloody boring, I should have taken Paul's advice. Righto, were off Stopped at the Hermannsberg Tea Rooms for Apple Strudle, it was so nice we ate it so fast I didn't even get a photo Gosses Bluff Meteorite Crater, we didn't go there for some reason, we just rode past. Spekky just the same. The road was quite good, to start with it was quite corrugated but then was fairly hard packed with a few sandy sections and loose stones. It made for a pleasant ride. Paul on his tricked up DR650 Someone else's camp site on a look out Having a lunch break under a tree Set up camp at the Kings Canyon Camp Ground Paul went to Kmart before we left to buy a camp chair, he didn't know he bought a kids one it lasted all of 5 minutes with his 90kg frame on it!! Brekky That was it, then the boring slab home, next time I'll take Paul's suggestion. It was nice to get away for the weekend from the stresses of our jobs that's for sure. Cheers Geoff.
Great part of the world you have there. Also good to see some roads that are GS friendly out there ...
