Thanks, everybody. I meant to post more last night, but something was wonky and the site was offline for awhile for me. Then I hit the wall this morning and had to sleep...23 days on the road, half a day off when I got home and started graveyard again...I need to find a new job or something.:loco

Yes, that picture of the tunnel is Colorado. :thumb

Let me see if I can get day one to post, I moved a few files last night before something happened with the site.

Let's back up the story a little bit. Things weren't going well as I was getting ready for this trip. I have always planned to tear this engine down at 20,000 miles for inspection and repair rather than let it grenade. I dumped the oil a week before I was to leave and found a nice handful of metal. I dug out all the big stuff and put in a parts order with MotoXotica.

Somehow I broke the water pump gasket and had to make another 100 mile round trip to get another one...there is a closer dealer, but they suck.

I installed all of my new parts..cam chain, wheel bearings and stuff...flushed the engine from top to bottom, inspected the oil pump for scoring, cleaned all of the screens and rode the 610 to work for a few days. It seemed to be running as good as ever so I set out on the trip. I planned to wander around within range of home to make sure things were good. The Zumo lost all maps as I left the house...sure am glad I'm taking two Garmins.

You can really wander around without a GPS. I don't have much loaded into the 376C aside from the trip details, so it doesn't do much aside from major roads.

Freaked me out when I noticed her.

I put on 150 miles or so and the bike was doing good, so I went out for fuel and found a nail in my tire. Please, no flats...not today. I was having a tough time getting into ride mode, felt like going home.

I made my way over Soda Springs Road.

    I'm starting to feel it.

I made my way to the train tunnels...no active rails today, I'm not going down that road again.

I stopped at Cabela's in Reno to get a new pot and pan mess kit. I made a few calls as I won't have cell service for a few days.

I made my way north towards Pyramid Lake.

I found a nice camp site on the reservation, you're supposed to pay and get a permit, but I don't really do that stuff until somebody makes me.

The end of day one...twenty-two more to go.
