A brand new set of problems
So as I had said earlier, I had to recharge my battery because of the fact it was nearly dead. I found out the problem might have been with the connectors, as the had a strange set up where they were connected by a screw going through the connector and into a small piece of sheet metal. I was having issues with the electrical system, as the bike would be close to dying one second and get a surge of power the next.
I replaced this setup with two machine screws and two bolts, and it seemed the electrical problems were fixed. I decided to take a ride tonight. Initially, everything seemed fine, but as my ride went on, I noticed my light getting dimmer and dimmer, and then getting brighter for half a second. The blinkers were acting erratically, one moment working fine, another staying solid, and the next flashing faster than I've ever seen them blink. The truly scary part was near the end of the ride, when my headlight was almost completely dead. It got to the point where even the weakest of streetlights were overpowering my light. When I got back and hit the engine kill switch, all of the lights died. I suspect that this is because the battery terminal (if that is the right term) might have been vibrated loose and that is the reason it seems to have gotten worse over time, and I'll test the battery with my multimeter to make sure it hasn't died. What else should I test in case the battery is hooked up properly? |
