That would work.. I still have the stocker in perfect shape, anyway.. The only difference is swapping out the little rubber buttons under the seat.. 5 minutes work..

I don't mean to take this even more of topic, but I read on the Beartooth website that the East side of the pass doesn't even officially open until Memorial Day Weekend because of the snow..

I'm guessing my electric vest will be a good thing to have along??:ear

Yup it's cold on the top of the pass even in August.

    Back on topic

I'm bringing homebrew to the Hiawatha. Don't be shy asking for samples.

Anyone have suggestions for more 'interesting' routes to get to Money Creek from the cities? I was initially planning jogging in to WI to take HWY 35 down and then cross back in to MN at either Wabasha or Winona.

If you cross back in Winona a stop at the Acoustic Café is a must for some grub. Good coffee shop food that gives us a reason to take a field trip there every year.

How much time do you want to waste? 61 to Goodhue county 7 thru welch is nice. Continue south, meet up with hwy 52, take that thru rochester and then take olmsted county 1 south to hwy 30. 30 thru chatfield, over to Rushford and then county 26 into the back side of Money Creek.

That gives you some fun stretches and you can still make some time on stretches of 61, 52, and 30.

Otherwise my standard plan is red wing, 58 south to hay creek, county 3, 2, and 5 thru belvedere mills into lake city. south on 4 then county 10 east into the back side of wabasha, 61 south to winona, county 17 south and then 76 south into money creek.

    I'm in, wife's out.

Plan on heading down Friday mid afternoonish. If anyone wants to tag along or knows of a nice meandering track, let me know.

Caole has developed a nice route from Red Wing that starts out Hay Creek, goes through Zumbro Bottoms, Mccarthy Ravine, stops in Rollingstone for a Dilly Burger, and finishes up on some nice Houston County unpaved creek bottom. I think it has been incorporated into the TMAT, so look there for tracks.

My plan is to ride the TMAT from Red Wing to the IA border and then back up to Money Creek. All those bumpy roads won't hurt my Cabrito will it??

There are very nice, uncrowded, untraveled secondary roads from Northfield south through Goodhue, Dodge, Wabasha, Olmsted and Winona counties. Off the beaten track and away from the river traffic. South of Red Wing there isn't much to see except the river to the left and bluffs to the right. Pretty enough, but not worth the 4 lanes of traffic. Winona is a waste of a stop. Better to carry on to either LaCrosse or better yet, some of the smaller towns in Olmsted, Fillmore or Mower counties on your way down.
