Do any of you follow recruiting in detail? I had a conversation about that tonight with my buddy(a UF fan). He was talking about all the different guys that were being recruited and about watching games and videos and things online before they even signed. I guess I just don't understand putting that much into watching a kid that may or may not play for your team and also may never see the field. I might go online to look at recruiting ranks or where some higher profile kids signed but that's about it. What say you?
The minimal extent I follow it is when UNM signs a recruit I read the article on what they say about him. If he is a "top" recruit-- say "B" for the big schools I may go to rivals and check him out. But that is the way of the bottom of the heap like at New Mexico, Tennessee and FAU.
I find it fascinating. You'd be surprised at the trends in recruiting and how it relates to the success of a team.
Luckily, I work with the Rainman of Missouri Football (and college football in general, to a slightly lesser extent), so I can stay reasonably informed with very little work.
I really like Snyder. Was neat to see him go out and check on an injured player and actually help him get up and get off the field. 1st class guy.
That's about where I'm at with it. I followed the Terrelle Pryor fiasco.. Now I wish he'd went to PSU or UM. I understand the relation, I just can't get excited about a player till he signs and is in scarlet and grey. Nice to have a friend like that!!!My buddy although a UF fan follows most recruiting of the major schools, so I get my monthly OSU recruiting update from him. Naturally regardless of how many stars an OSU commit is he says they suck and are head cases.

(Incidentally, when was the last time Vegas offered national championship odds on Vanderbilt but not Tennessee? We're going on a limb to say "never.") -- Is Michigan really going to enter 2012 as the Big Ten favorite -- Denard Robinson will be back, but there's major losses on both lines -- or is their status here just a result of the large numbers of Wolverine fans willing to bet on their favorite team? Not me. they get the benefit of being in the SEC without having to play Bama, LSU or the Hogs next year. Their toughest game next year is gonna be USCe with a mediocre QB and who knows if Lattimore can come back to form.
