Robbinsville NC to Murph NC

I have been trying to find some back roads, gravel or paved, from Robbinsville down to Murphy and I'm having no luck. Any suggestions?

Look on Tail of the Dragon website for dual sport maps.

Just take Hwy#143 toward the Skyway, until you get to Santeelah Gap. Then pick up USFS#81 (gravel) it will turn in to North River Rd. at the top of the mtn. and eventually you will come out on Tellico River Rd. Turn left on the Tellico River Rd. and follow it. It will become Davis Crk. Rd and then Joe Brown Hwy. and you'll come out in downtown Murphy.

may not be able to get thru Davis Crk as of now but you could turn off Tellico River rd past Green cove campground , right onto green cove rd- turns into Bald River rd- left on wildcat, right on smithfield rd to Hwy 68 then left onto Joe Brown Hwy past coker creek, stay on Joe Brown into downtown Murphy

Makes me want to go ride. Howdy mxcr and hillbilly.

I'll be up there for a. Week the end of August. Would be nice to find some of those off road trails to ride. If you live up that way maybe we could do some riding that week.

Was up there last week. Davis Creek is closed and the closure is being enforced. Seems someone vandalized some the construction equipment so the Rangers are out for blood.

You could also do Tathums Gap from Robbinsville to Andrews. 29 from there to Murphy is fourlane and not exciting, but the Gap is great.

I think Tatum Gap is closed. Not sure exactly where, but was told Saturday that Long Branch Rd. route is closed.

Tatum Gap Rd is closed. The only one still open is USFS #304 that connects Little Snowbird on the Graham County side to Beaver Creek at Andrews.

Did they allow you to go thru??

I live approximately 10 miles from the road closure on Davis Crk, went thru there about a month ago, on a weekend day no one working so didn't have any problem, some ppl screw it up for everybody, will ck on it first chance I get, if anyones in the area and want to ride hit me up, br ownie and mxcr too

What about the Little Snowbird route that is suppose to exist but is not on the map?

Get a National Geographic topo map #784 Fontana & Hiwassee Lakes.. It's the only map that I have that shows this road.

My favorite route in the area. Lawdy, that's a fun road!

any news on Davis Creek? Is it open again?

the FS website announcement is a year old...

its open, they were putting down gravel couple weeks ago so they should be finished by now

Planning on taking the long gravel road underneath/along Cherohala to Tellico on Friday, and Davis Creek to Murphy on Saturday.

Anything else I should do in the area? I only have TrailAttacks mounted right now on the F650 (kinda miss the knobbies for weekends like this)
