Here is another trip that I did last summer with some friends. My friends live in Addis Ababa and planned a trip South through Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Ruwanda, Tanzania and then back up to Ethiopia. It was a 1 month trip. I was only able to join them for 3 days. My friends, Flavio (950 ADV), Marcus (DR650) and his son Ben (KTM 690) came down to my house in the southwestern corner of Ethiopia. I crossed them across the Omo river and then headed South with them the next day. The track heads South from my house across the border into Kenya right along the shoreline of Lake Turkana. It is a VERY sandy track the whole way. My friends where all extremely loaded down for a month of travel so the sand took a toll on them. Fortunately I was traveling very light with just a sleeping bag, pad, and a few tools on my DRZ. I was planning on riding 1 day with them down to Elye Springs campground, spend the night and head home again the next day when they continued south. We ended up staying an extra day at Eyle Springs, for some rest and had to do some work on the bikes. This was a short trip but alot happened on it. Here is some video footage of the trip. Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWjfdVm6Qqo Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSSorPzz7I0 Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhTYJZA1vdU Part 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sm5Yd5hDvs So I continued home alone from Kalakol while the others headed south. Their trip went well and they returned with some great stories. Elye Spring is one of the coolest places i think I have ever been. I can't wait to go back.
