Went looking at GSA's at Honda of Hollywood, and again at Ira Seaver in Anaheim. The Hollywood shop had a larger selection of the GSA's even though they are not a BMW-exclusive dealer. Any one have experiences with either of these dealers? How was the services? Post-sale support, etc...?
I have owned 2 of Irv's bikes, and have many services done there. They have good support, and treat you as family. The prices are fair, so do not expect a good guy discount. They work on a high volume of bikes, and if you notice something got over looked, just mention it to the service manager, and you will not see that problem again. They really take care of you after the sale. Hope this helps. Ramon
I went with Irv because they didn't charge 500 bucks for "setup", back in 2001 they charged 195 bucks and threw in the system cases on the house. Brown wanted sticker plus 500 or what ever "setup" was. Didn't check Hollywood, not sure what they charge.
Irv Seaver all the way, they're really nice folks, and as previously stated they treat you like family. They even remember my name and what bike I ride and everything. They're good people.
Got my 1984 R80GS from Marty's. Good deal, and at that time, Jhed was the head wrench. A+++ service, but the owner (Ann's ex) was a REAL ASSHOLE! I swore them off. I traded the 1984 for a 1985 R80GSPD at Weat Valley Cycles. Good folk, family run, good deals, good wrench. I recommend them. Then, I got a used 1995 R1100GS at RPM. Unfortunately, they're not really with BMW anymore, but the sales guys are great and the wrenches know their stuff. I recommend them, too. Then, I got the 2003 1150RT from Hollywood. Good deal (paid cash), and the wrench that worked on my bike at the 600 mile seemed to do a good job. Just a small paperwork snafu on the registration, but I'd go there again.
There was a story on the R65 list a couple weeks ago about a guy with a clutch problem on his old bike. He took it into Irv Seaver, and they found it was a throwout bearing installed incorrectly or something like that. Apparently while checking thru their paperwork on the bike, Seaver found that they had done the last clutch job on this bike several YEARS ago, and their mechanic had installed the part incorrectly, so they declined to bill the customer for the repair. Now that's some customer service. Jon
I've dealt with a number of BMW shops around the country and have found none better than Irv Seaver. They have a large police/CHP business and the officers seem happy to be with them, if that's any indication, and.....very important......their parts dept. actually stocks parts!! mully
Glad to hear all the positive feedback on Irv Seaver - dropping as much $ as I probably will on this bike, it's good to know you'll be treated well. Plus I like the idea that they're near Z-Racing where I get my KTM parts! :)
Irv Seaver all the way!!! If you are going to get a bike ask for Cameron.. He will taake care of you. Parts guys are first rate. The service guys are great also. I have never had my bike in for service but I have asked them alot of questions and they were always willing to go into detail with the response!! Gerat dealer!!!! HUGH HARRIS
Bought a bike from Hollywood back in 98. The bike was a pretty good deal as marked, so they were up front about the "take it or leave it" price. Bought the bike, and they threw in an Arai helmet for $200, pair of good gloves for $25 and a tank bra for free. Customer service was good. Worst thing I remember was available parking for my cage. Had to tell the salesman to move a piece of shit Mercedes out of my way so I could get out...turned out to be Faaaabio's .:ymca
I just bought mine from Hollywood this weekend. My good friend wrenches on them there so I was able to get a great deal on a demo bike from them. Plus he'll do the services for me so I'll go to them in the future. So far so good from them. Errin
Okay, this was seventeen years ago, so things might have changed--although it doesn't sound like it from these posts. I was on the old RS, at a convention in Anaheim, heading back to Texas when I realized that noise and rattle was the bracket breaking off the muffler. I'd heard of Irv Seaver and it was close, so I went quick before they closed for the weekend and my hotel room vanished. I figgered they could tell me where some welder was that was open late on Saturdays...yeah, right. Well the service manager comes out, looks at it, says, "We're about to close, there's nobody nearby. I'm a crappy welder but I can probably do it well enough to get you home," and he brazed on the spot as they rolled all the bikes inside for the night. And would not accept a dime. And they'd shut the cash register so I couldn't even go in and buy something, just as thanks. Many thousands of miles later, the weld still held, and I still think very highly of Irv Seaver.
