Greetings Northern Inmates: I recently purchased a 1200 GS Adventure and will begin the (circuitous) trip home on Wednesday (currently holed up in Talkeetna). This bike came with the Ultimate Addons iPhone charger and case. I don't have an iPhone. I do have a desire/need to charge via USB though. Sadly, I don't have time to wait for shipping so I was wondering if anyone might point me in the direction of finding any of these: USB connector: PREFERRED http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Y4WX8M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2E944XTTK6JT6 These two would work too (need to charge both micro and mini) Micro USB: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005452PYK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2E944XTTK6JT6 Mini USB connector: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00544YY0E/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2E944XTTK6JT6 Alternatively, these can't be too hard to make... A standard USB female connected to a Hella Super seal that plugs into the already wired-in system on the bike... Ideas? I'll be in ANC on Monday and possibly FBX Thursday. Thanks in advance!
I wish that would work... The connecter is the Hella super seal, not the SAE... If I could find some of these, I might be willing to wire it up myself. Just chop a USB cable, terminate with these: http://www.kramp.com/shop-de/en/11401/41285/578152/0/Cable+connectors+Super+seal+Hella+SET Thanks though!
I know zip about any of these connectors. No SAE connector for a battery tender on the bike? You should go to AK Leather while here in any case.
Thanks! I was planning on popping in AK Leather - always try when I'm in the state. Will try Frigid North too. Appreciate the help!
There should be an OEM connector near the left rear of the saddle. I've seen some hard wired with a mounting bracket, and others just tie-wrapped and stowed. You might take a look there first to see if it is equipped with one.
This is what I've been using for the last four years with zero issues. Straight fused battery connection to a female cigarette lighter receptacle then a triple tap with two USB ports built in. Works like a charm.
That's a nice setup, AKMud... I may look into something like that in the future. I do have the OEM plug, but I also have the "Ultimate Addons" iPhone system wired directly to the battery (I just bought this bike - it's how it came). That system has those Hella plugs that you can pop off the iPhone charger end and pop in a USB end. Just can't find their USB version in time... I think I'm just going to cut the iPhone cable and wire in a USB female as a work-around. Thanks for the tip though!
