The August Rally Nav class is 100% on and there are spots for a few more riders.

We will be doing a long section on the last two days, the way I have it planned now. If you want to participate in those stages I can also set that up. You'll pay for the map books and some of the related support costs. I have some other commitments right after the class but I'm sure I could set riders up with some additional sections if further practice is desired through the help of Hogwild.

If there is continued interest we will repeat the class later in the year.

    PM me for specifics.

With the lack of winter down there, I'm waiting for some sessions while it's cold and snowy up in the North.

Are there suggestions for bike equipment, range, etc?

    Keet it going JL!

Id definately be interested in a class later in the year, cant make August though, work commitments. Thanks for offering this Jimmy, I know its only for a select few riders and isnt a money making endeavour, but it is very valuble training.

Today Jimmy gave me the list of roadbooks he wants printed for the class in 2 weeks. One of them is a really cool route we haven't used in a couple of years. You can see photos and read some experiences from that past ride here:

That was one of the biggest turnouts we had for DVR.

To all the people going to Jimmy's class, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE A BLAST ! ! !

As a complete noob to racing with lots of dreams and little for experience, this is an amazing way to learn the ropes. Please keep us updated about whatever dates you're thinking of Jimmy. I, and likely others, need to make work arrangements way in advance.

    Jimmy...
Fun to meet, ride and hang out with you in Tahoe this past weekend at the Adventure ride.
As we discussed, I am interested in attending one of these classes later in the year. Please keep me posted on future dates...

As a refresher and to cover a few quick points in this thread without having to read 20 pages, here it is:

We now have a successful and proven program for this class that will teach you how to navigate rally-style through the use of a roadbook.

The class is 3-4 days and requires a high level riding ability. In the works (and likely before this years Dakar) we may offer a introduction to rally navigation basics with simple routes that can be done on a Adventure bike without the true mapbook or GPS equipment.

You should have your own bike set up for Rally to do the class. I have rentals but they are usually spoken for from international riders who have to fly in. This is a great time to troubleshoot your setup and learn how you like to have your mapbook, odometer, GPS arranged.

We just completed a great class last week, thought it was a little too hot for my tastes with training in mind. I am open to repeating the class again in late October/Early November if there is interest (5 riders). Following that(late NOV/ early DEC) I plan on setting up a few days of long stages training through the use of routes through HogWild and myself. I'll set up the infrastructure so you can come out and do it unsupported for a small fee to cover the costs of support and mapbooks.

As of right now we are getting close to an early November session. The dates to consider are Nov 6-9. Let me know soon if you are interested.

Additionally it is very possible some top riders will be training in early December on longer stages were we will have assistance and be able to do the necessary support and some light training for experienced riders. If I can get the time and there is the interest, I will try and set up a parallel experience for "fans" on adventure bikes.
