Another Unholy Union rebuild on a R100GS: Donor is a low mileage one owner bike that had been stolen and vandalised by kids. The original owner kept it for years in the hope of rebuilding it, but never got round to doing it. TAG aluminium extended monolever, bitches: The beast: R100GS base engine, Moorespeed 1000cc long skirt pistons+valves and balanced OEM crank. I have the Moorespeed pistons on my 100GS city ride and really love them. Waiting to see how the valve changes affect the feel and esp looking forward to trying out a balanced crank.

does TAG have a website? I can't find anything on them. Also, are those swingarms currently available?
Mainframe strengthened by TAG, with a 2 degree change in rake and engine mounting moved forward. Using stock KTM triple clamps that came off a '98 300exc. The offset is negligible, but wanted to try this out for now. Given that I have a steeper rake angle, I wanted to play it safe on the offset, until I got a feel for the bike. Chopped GS subframe, cut just behind the rear pannier rack mounting point. I prefer the look of the G/S subframe (as in earlier dry run picture), but I have seat and pannier racks that will fit onto a paralever frame, so wanted to minimize brain damage for now. I hear that there is a risk that the greater suspension travel of an extended monolever could cause the wheel to hit the mudguard on the longer paralever subframe. Am going for a smaller mudguard, so lets see.

In order to calibrate the required rim offset, I put on some 140 Michelin Deserts, as this is the widest tyre that I will be using. After quite a while setting up the offset, still have a problem with clearance: man, this job has a terrible work to results ratio. Packed it in after I could see at least 1mm of clearance:
450w alternator kit have also gone for the Moorespeed programable ignition as an alternative to double plugging. As I assume the high compression pistons would not be as happy as I am to be riding in mamma hafrica
Front wheel is a 21x 1.6 Excel rim with Talon Hub. Sanity check that the new Hub is the same as the original KTM, by placing OEM disk onto mounting points: Have a problem with the spindle tube (whatever its formal name is). Top tube is correct width, but unfortunately 20mm internal diameter. Lower tube is correct 17mm diameter, but wrong width. Awaiting replacement from helpful guys at Talon:
