Next July will be a hot month for us riding in the Los Angeles area. The plan is stay local and ride high in cooler areas.....6k to 7k elevation.

    The dates are set on July 17, 18, and 19 , 2009

    Here's the schedule:

    Friday:
5 PM meet at 7-11 on ORO VISTA and FOOTHILL BLVD. Ride Lynx, Pacifico, and camp at Horse Flats Campground near Newcombs.

Those coming late, just meet at the Mill Creek around 7:00 PM. This is an early evening night ride. You could also meet at Newcombs or at the camp, whichever is good for you.

    Dinner at Newcombs @ 8:00PM.

    Saturday:
Ride to Wrightwood for brunch via the newly opened HW2, then to Old Pine Canyon, Lytle Creek, to Cleghorn (skip the sand wash), to Hesperia, to Coxey, and camp at Holcomb Valley Campground.

If we get a support vehicle, we will have bar-b-q in the camp, otherwise, dinner in Big Bear City. I would guess $8 per person.

    Sunday:
Brunch at Grizzly Manor (Big Bear City)
Explore the Big Bear Area, ride home via the same route we rode up and take the sandwash (there's an optional detour).
Ride home via Old Pine Canyon, HW2 to Angeles Crest to Upper Big T to AFH to Big T to Oro Vista (Sunland).

Total distance will be around 350 - 400 miles and there are routes for intermediate riders and advanced riders.

All participants must be at least an experienced C+ rider, sorry no reckless riders, must have critical spare parts, able to fix flat, and carry tools.

Once we find a support vehicle, the first 14 riders to sign in can stash their camping equipment in the vehicle. Our sv will have firewood, cooler with ice (bring your own refreshment), grill, and camp chairs.

    The IN list
    1. KLR Woody
    2. Sopascat
    3. Dun E. Rat
    4. 8)H
    5. RRuugger
    6. DannyG
    7. Spafxer
    8. tbarstow
    9. nmbmn
    10. randym
    11. imgonnasnap
    12. sospelotudo
    13. sito

Anyone who's coming must sign up so we can figure out the camping arrangement and break the group into 2 or 3 depending on the riding ability.

Maybe I misunderstood, is it a hardcore bike ride or a big bike run & camping off the bikes? If the later, yes i'd deff be taking the 950 instead :huh

The mileage isn't a problem, I did 350 miles of dirt riding of my 450 during our last bomb run :D
