Hey, any of you guys interested in a get together in San Luis Obispo end of the
month? I'll be putting all the great roads and of course up HWY 1 to Carmel
for lunch. Pozo for lunch. Morro Bay and lunch at the Hoffbrau. Avila and
lunch at the Custom House. And …. So, beginning to see a pattern here?

Sounds great! And I'd love to see that masterpiece you're riding around on, and maybe follow you thru some twisties to see how she runs. But I've only got a 2 wheeler

You should put this offer on Facebook Bay Area Sidecar Enthusiast:
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/bayareasidecarenthusiasts/

I did a BSA club ride last month starting in Carmel down Hw1 to Nacimiento rd, Fort Hunter, lunch in King city and overnight in Moro Bay ; back by Parkfield, and Los Gatos creek road...my arms are still sore (I was on my Ural...). Which dates are you thinking of?

Dates - no dates really. Just thought I'd throw the hook in the water and see if
any bites. I know there are some guys on the CC that have hacks. Good Idea
about "Facebook"; but I don't do Facebook.

If anyone is interested we can coordinate here and pick a date. Say meet at
Madonna Inn for a breakfast and ride off into the "Wild West" of SLO. There are
a bunch of rather short rides in and around SLO. Blast up to Pozo for lunch.
I'm up to just about anything. The of course there is always the North County
Wine Tour and Foxen Canyon out of Santa Maria. Wine tours are OK 'cause we
have 3 wheels - ain't like ya gonna fall down! :eek1

My dates in SLO are from 6/28 for a few weeks. Although I do have some
work to do on the property; I can scoot out just about anytime.

When you say short rides... what do you mean? How many miles would a weekend be from SLO to SLO?
    Thanks.

There are several great putts in and around SLO. One for instance is only about ten miles, a fun ride. Great high speed twisties if that is your
thing. If fact a few deaths of "hot shots" every year on this one. Another is
Perfumo Cyn SLO to Avila, again not more then around fifteen or so miles.
A lunch run to the Pozo Salon is about 40 miles and last year it was 104 at the
table. Good food and a fun ride. From Pozo you can take the long way back to
SLO; about 90 minutes in the saddle. Check them out on my youtube.com/khjphoto.

Sorry, don't understand the second, SLO to SLO?

There are a few of us on the central coast who get together via the Facebook page Sidecars of SLO. You might want to post there as well. You'll also find information about an upcoming event. Love to have you join in

Searched and didn't find "Sidecars of SLO" nor "Sidecars of San Luis Obispo" on Facebook.

Being in Ventura County and recently retired, we would be very interested in central coast rides. But the end of this month we will be doing the CDR and will be in Wyoming at the time.

CDR is that with Jim Hyde? That will be a great
adventure. Of course if it is with Jim - YIKES, there goes the
Retirement!! Jim does it right but geeeez sure do pay for it.

After SLO I'll be up on WY too. Spend time in Alpine.
    Sure do love it there.

I don't think Jim has ever had a sidecar along on one of his trips, but I'm not 100% sure. It was my understanding that Strong's trip is self supported? (the ONLY to go, IMO)

I'm also heading to WY in July, then MT, and Banff, then over to BC and back down the left coast. Lotsa family in WA, and the annual visit takes in more miles, and days, every year.

Nope, just SWMBO & I going it alone. We are leaving this Friday.

Alpine is a super little town. Right out of college (Geology Idaho State) I worked for JR Simplot doing the EIR for what is now their Smokey Canyon mine in the mountains just west of Star Valley. I lived in the apartment above the Cowboy Bar in Afton for 9 months. We are going to deviate from the CDR in Pinedale Wyo. and jump over to Star Valley get some cheese curds at the Star Valley Dairy in Thayne. Alpine used to be the home of Jeep's Bar (great watering hole for young Geology students doing summer field camp).. Huge changes since I lived in the area back in 1980.

We plan to be at my property up in Anaconda Deer Lodge County MT for July 4th and then head towards Banff.

From Banff we are going southwest to Twisp Wa to see old friends. From Twisp over to Anacortes jump on the ferry and head to Friday Harbor to stay with my son for a couple of days and then on July 14th start heading down Hwy 1 to home.

    OK. Now I am envious!
Sounds like you guys have quite the trip planned
    Hope you post some photos.

I did speak with Jim about the CDR with my rig; he did say
It could be done but there were a couple of go arounds.

Alpine and SV - I believe God lives there! Well maybe not allllllll
    Winter long.

Looking Forward to your trip report.

OK. all of you going to Banff. It is well worth a night or two at
the Banff Springs Hotel and/or the Chateau Lake Louise. Oh, and
by the way if you ever wish to have a magical Christmas, again
    stay at either.

And if you ski - world class. Always wanted to heliski there, never
    got around to it.
