Pre-run

Been watchin this thread and want to wish you guys good luck. Its great that you can post on a board like this and get help as you have done and as I did the last couple years. If there was one piece of information given to me on racing in Baja that was more important than anything else, I would have to say it was...

"Pre-run the whole course"

For one, I noticed that I am ALWAYS faster thru the same section the second time thru. And, during the prerun you can take it easy and find the hazzards without hitting them. The first year I came accross a long strait road that you could just fly on... BUT, there was a 30 foot section missing - the course turned to the right, went down off the road about 20 feet down and then across the gap and back up on the road on the other side. When you see something like this pre-running, you remember it! And, that sure beats finding it at race speeds.

Good luck Guys. Hope I see you in Baja.

Andy ( Baja Celebrity )

Andy, did you pre run using your race bike?
One of our bikes has screwed the pooch, gone fubar, awol. We are scrambling trying to find a third bike cheap, maybe two. I just do not want to run the race bike on our pre run if it's avoidable.

Just a note here to let everyone know: Hiawassee (Jason) and I have been in contact and agreed that he will be supplying me with reports of the trip and the race and I'll be publishing frequent (as frequent as they can get stuff to me) updates on Examiner.com. Here is the URL where you can find everything.

http://www.examiner.com/x-378-Motorcycle-Examiner

I've already put up the first article about the team and that can be found here:

http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-3...a-racing-dream

That's a long URL and it may break so you may need to piece it back together. The easiest thing is probably just to use the shorter URL.

Hey John... the last 2 years I did use my race bike for pre-running. But this year I'm racing with a team of riders (284x) and we have a dedicated race bike. It may do a bit of pre-running, but it wont be the exclusive pre-runner. You have an XR650R so you shouldnt have any problems. Im taking mine down for spares. And, I have a few sets or spare wheels although they may not be perfectly round , you are welcome to use a pair. I will be in Ensenada on Wed nite. I'll PM you my cel #.

Hola

Ok Folks, we're here ( El Faro Beach ), now what?
Starting pre running tomorrow, and have recruited a local cab driver to ride shotgun in the chase truck on race day. Odd days indeed. Take care everyone, and we'll check in as soon as we can.

I'm the smoking monkey now, but the lions have all gone. They said the owner died about 3 months after the lion did. Trippy. Lots of horses around, and a couple parked their car outside our house last night on the beach and, um, well, let's just say the windows got pretty foggy.
