Maybe HRC ran a standard 16-20 L tank for testing and neglected to factor in the fuel needed just to haul the extra fuel? It's prolly would take at least a couple liters to pack that additional weight thru the sand.

He's right behind Despres on the stage. So all Cyril has to do is keep him close. That'll make a 3 min catchup for Lopez.

If Cyril can manage to finish 5th today, with Lopez close, then he stands to make up an easy 10 minutes tomorrow, without having to lead until the last day, which is short.

Unless the ASO decides to throw a multiplier into that stage, too.

good to see him on his way ...

this was in MCN, i saw a 20 min penalty on the dakar site now i know waht for :

    "
Craig Bounds is now a regular top ninety finisher despite his injuries, He ended the day in 83rd which leaves him 84th overall, but revealed to MCN that he missed the last way point so is expecting to get hit with a time penalty in the final results.
“It was a lack of concentration at the end of the stage and as a result I missed a way point. I think it’ll be a 20min penalty which is no big deal. I’ve ridden this stage twice before but it was different today because of the weather. It was much cooler and it was actually pouring down on the liaison. My back is still killing me but I’ve just got to put it out of my mind and carry on.”

035 - Berglund stuck in the sand?

Sweden's Husaberg rider No. 35 has stopped after 118 km in the middle of a sandy zone. It seems like he may have got stuck in the sand and should free himself in the coming minutes.

10 minutes of nothingness between Caselli and Jakes (is it read Yakesh? That's how I would read it, I bet the English speakers call him Jakes..)

It looks like Svitko is out. After the crash yesterday when he went over the bars and broke the oil cooler he decided not to start today.

Alessandro Botturi is now heading in the right direction, but he made a 7-km detour that will probably lose him several minutes.
