    ....very true.

I had exactly the same fuel experience coming into Mukka as You! The spluttering started just after the town sign in. Bloody lovely riding out there though eh?

Enjoying the reports very much. Ride on :norton

Some mighty cool pics there GA but a question from a pom who's been living in NZ for 10 years, snakes, crocks and whatever else is out there how the hell do you know which creek/river camp spot is good to swim or stay at ?

One of these days going to ship my bike over and take the slow road to Perth to see family.

    Great RR keep it going

:nod:nod You camp far enough back from the water that you can stake out two dogs, left and right of a direct line from the water to your camp, about 50 metres from the water, then you set up your Mother-in-Law another 20 metres away, before your camp. Then your camp. Good night's sleep guaranteed. :thumb

ok, so i'd spent a couple of days in Port Hedland 'thinking'... if i kept going around the coast it'd be another 6 months till i got home... :eek1

i'd buggered of for 10 days a bit over 6 weeks ago... :D

it was now time to go home... :cry

so, i fueled up, oiled the chain, did a bit of shopping, packed as much as i could and had an early night...

next morning packed tent etc, showered and buggered off from this...not so impressive place..

i headed north east... but only for 40kms..

when i came to this, i turned South.....hmmm, south...

only went a couple ok km, before i came across a grass fire right on the side of the road...

i pulled up for a drink and a look.....

and a few mins later, nearly got run over by these 2 fellas...

but then i got to giggle at em for at least 10 mins while they tried to start the pump in front of me as the fire spread... :lol3

another team rocked up and just about had the fire out by time they got the pump going..

continued on, and pulled up here for a cuppa..

was just about to head off again when i noticed dust on the horizon... so a waited... a bloody long time... for this to crawl past at about walking pace..

didnt get a lot further before hitting roadworks..

seems they are making a fair bit of this dirt road.....

i rolled on, quick look around Newman, then another 180kms.. (grabbing a couple of overpriced beers and some fuel from the Kumarina roadhouse along the way..)

had a bit of difficulty finding a bush camp (roads were fenced...)

but eventually found a good spot away from the road..

    about 700kms today..

the obligatory fire light photo.. :deal

next morning was another beautiful day.... :clap

hit the road for another long day in the saddle..

another check of the weather.. looked like i'd still just keep in front of the incoming cold change and rain..

I'd planned on taking a shortcut across to Wiluna (via the Wiluna North Rd) but couldnt find it..!

so ended up going the long way, down to Meekathara... then east from there..

my map showed it as a dirt rd...

which it was after a couple of kms..

sandy for a while, but then a nice high speed spin...:clap

had a quick look at the start of the Canning Stock Route..

Then into Wiluna for a fuel up and a heated debate with a 'local' and more kms south..

from there it was highway south.. more fuel and food in Leinster, more highway down to Leonora..

then along the same bit of highway i'd done 5 weeks earlier down to Menzies..

where i decided to pull up stumps and crash at the same pub again...

bit over 800kms for the day..

next moring was south again, bypassing Kalgoorlie, down to Norseman..

    then out to Nullabor..

and on eastward.. getting chased by the cool change..

pulling up stumps in the scrub about 50kms east of Madura just on sunset....

(bit over 900kms for the day)

needed a beer n a fire after that day.. :deal

sunrise wasnt bad the next morning..

a km or 2 back to the highway....

my favorite servo on the Nullabor.. friendly staff... not a blaitant rip-off... :deal

fueled and cawfee-d... and a look at the weather chasing me..

and a quick look over the bike...

the old Rallye getting down a bit..

a quick pit-stop overlooking the Southern Ocean..

    then more long lonely highways...

    another cliff-top pit-stop..

was really surprised how well/long this front lasted... :evil

and lots more highway, eventually rolling into Wudinna and getting a great room in the pub for the night..

    875kms today..

    next day was home day..

straight down the highway to Adelaide..

with a few reminders along the road of where id been...

    .

and 570kms later i was home..

glad that my chain made it! 3 hours later it was raining :D

so yeah... this 10 day, 2,000km trip.. :deal

turned into this 7 week, 18,000km trip...! :rofl

    Spot map..
