Anybody ever got a US Forest Service ticket on the BRP?

And went to Federal Court to plead it down?

How did it go for you? Any tips/advice?

Really no need to. I don't think you get anything against your license for it. It doesn't show up at all.

is the fine high? I always thought they were cheap.

I got popped 2 years ago for 60 in a 45. $100.00 fine. $75.00 for the speed, ( ranger says the monies go into a disabled vet fund ) $25.00 admin fee, ticket goes in a file cabinet. That's it. Had I have known that I would have been having a lot more fun than I was having :)

yup...the NPS, (No People Service)...and they don't like bikes. Last award I got...ranger was writing, a group of bikes came in..."this is good advertising right here"...

I want to say it did hit my record, I'm in Va and ticket was in Va, so that might be why. I don't trust anything a ranger for NPS says.

I got a speeding ticket on Skyline Drive back in 1990. I was concerned about points on my license and mentioned it to the Ranger. He told me it wouldn't show on my record. Really! OK, I'll take him at his word.(big mistake)

About a year later I needed a copy of my driving record for employment purposes. Got the record and was looking thru it and saw a ticket from Texas on it. WTF? I asked the person behind the counter what was going on.

DMV rep: Did you get a ticket in Texas?

Me: I've never even been to Texas

DMV rep: Did you get a ticket in a National Park?

Me: Yeah...

I was told by a lawyer friend that the feds get something like a 99.8% conviction rate so when I got popped on the BRP a few years ago I did not try to plead it down.

As I recall the fine was something over $200.00 and 6 points (though no reckless) on my VA license.

Last Oct., my buddies and I got nailed for 5 speeding tixs on the BRP in VA and NC. Paid the fines, no points on any of our NY licenses.

Pay it and be done! Consider it a donation to the National Parks Service.

Last I heard it was $500 and up for aggravated speeding. They have a low tolerance. Why speed on the BRP? It's for looking around. The good shit is on the roads off the BRP anyway.

I don't know how you can ride the BRP without speeding.. I can't, it drives me nuts

So long as you keep it sub 60 and no crossing the double yellow on the BRP, you're fine. Needless to say, my buddies and I were 60+ and crossing at will. Safely of course but still stupid especially in the Fall with the traffic we were in. When we go down () in April, there is NO ONE on the road and you can have some fun.

The limit on Skyline is 30 or 35 and the rangers throw down radar traps all over the place. I rode it once for about 20 miles and passed four traps. NOT fun!
