For us in Canada, it's a done deal.. no more bikes available for the Canadian market. My dealer says, in the fall he should be able to get more, but his 2006 allottment is sold out and so is every other dealer across the country. But you might still be able to find one if a buyer backed out, or a dealer ordered it not pre-sold.
They said the same thing on the first production for the regular R12GS I bet they will have the 2nd batch / 2007's in the dealers by July and by October there will be plenty to be had just like when the regular R12GS came out.
Ok, deposit is in. Early april allegedly. Will see what I get in way of color, options, etc. March is gonna feel lllloooonnnggg!!!
I went to the BMW dealer a few weeks ago to look at the new Adventure, but it was not in stock. The sales rep said it would be March or April (Spring) when they expected them to be in. He did not mention to me anything about placing an order, but he jotted down my name and phone number and said he would call me in to test ride one once its available.
Just as a I suspected, it's a marketing strategy.. when something's is perceived as scarce, people's hording instinct takes over... and this creates a buzz... I want one, I want one... damn... I can't get one.. then you hear someone saying such and such a dealer has one unsold.. and there's a stampede...
I was at the local dealer (BMW of Orlando) yesterday, 11 Feb, '06, and he had one one the floor. Blue. With the 12Adv panniers. Both sides, and the top. It was purty. It was also pre-sold. Big yellow piece of paper that read "SOLD, David .........." Damn ..... I was told that "it might be a while" before they had more on the floor. Oh, well .... back to the piccies, pamphlets, and short vids ......
Bill I believe the "blue" adventure you speak of is most like the 2006 1150 GS Adventure not the new 1200 GS Adventure. The first run of the new 1200 GSA does not come in blue.
correctumundo....1200GS ADV only comes in white and silver. Blue is the 1150GS, but I heard it has the new ADV panniers...any truth to this?
Not to be a PITA, but I've got before me the official BMW glossy sales brochure for the 2006 BMW R 1200 GS, and on page 48, the three colour options shown are: Desert Yellow Metallic Rock Red Metallic Ocean Blue Metallic Along with two seat colour options: black, and grey. I'll say it again: It was purty in blue .....
LOL If "David ......." hasn't already picked it up by Tuesday afternoon, I'll swing by then. The store is closed Sunday and Monday ......:huh
I am looking at the same brochure, and it's for the 1200 GS, not the 1200 GS Adventure. You're talking about this:
Oops ... It IS the GS, not the GSA. Mine eyes were blinded by the beauty .... Thanks for the insight ......
Yep, not only that, but it keeps the price up at full MSRP for a while which helps the dealers stay in business. Its a very good marketing strategy.
The bike will be introduced in Europe at the 25th of march. It would be great to pick mine up that day and show it off for two months before someone else can..... Don't get me wrong... I wish everyone his/her Adventure but it will be my Adventure first.....
