I'm back in the saddle with the 690. Seems to run great, the bill was not as astranomical as I thought it was going to be. $500 less than I figured. Rode it home from Perth, no problems or issues, just like it should be. It goes like stink!! So I should catch up to Dan with his speeding tickets. Its just too easy to speed on that thing. Dan you should be nicer to KLR's... they "might" be the ones to help you out of the mud... I wouldn't buy one either....:huh Maybe I should of, they have a better track record of being faster, better handling, eye candy.... oops thats my bike. better track record of being more reliable.KTM+ Keep the Mechanic
Was out on the triple tower line and New Road yesterday - not surprisingly a number of downed trees and the water is verrryyyy deep. Good ride though - was on my dirt bike. Riding buddy had a couple mishaps though...did the 'Ten Commandments' and also broke a side case cover in another spill! :eek1 Rob
You're right, I take it all back, I love KLR's After last year's Trans Lab ride I was sure KTM meant Kan't Travel Much Glad to hear you're back on the road!
Well the bike season has started and the game of "Spot the Loony" is in full swing. Stephanie and I went for a what we planned as a short ride, but ended up in Barry's Bay via the 511, and the Opeongo road among others. But as we were traveling on the 511 we caught up to a Harley dude and a female rider in close formation, going quite quickly on the straights, but slowing to about 60 kph through each corner. We followed them for a bit then decided we'd had enough at a nice long stretch of straight road with a passing zone so I proceeded to pull out to pass when the idiots decided to race us, so as to keep us behind them! What a couple of idiots they were. They can't take the corners, but they won't let anyone past them. I'm sure they were not pleased that we got by anyway as they tried real hard to stop us.
True enough. Pity there wasn't more dirty stuff. That little bit of Pap-Labelle was just a tease. The sand on the roads was fun though, not to mention the rocks on the road, cars in our lane and slow cruisers. DVD_Scott, great to meet you. Cheers all!
As always I have a few photo's from the day. Passing through Brebeuf, Quebec Lots of this.. Roads in Quebec are great fun, as Dave mentioned they are still a bit sandy in places but nothing a good rain shouldn't clear off. Had lunch in Mont Tremblant. Good micro brews at the Diablo restaurant and a nice sunny patio Looking down and over the Diable Falls in Tremblant. I like riding this time of year when the rivers are in flood. Looking back at the ski hill We jumped into Papineau Labelle Parc on the way home for a quick look. Given the time of day and we didnt have a map we didnt stay long. Very much looking forward to exploring this area this season We did manage to find a short section of fun stuff, just fun enough to get a bit wet We went to explore tremblant park but found all the roads were paved This wouldnt have been too bad as the scenery was amazing but the roads were COVERED in loose sand. We decided not too waste the afternoon there as a spill or boring riding would have been what was on the plate. All in all it was a great day, good to get some saddle time in. Truely felt like summer with the afternoon temps reaching into the 20's.
Neither - the cracked case cover happened about 5km from the end and we didn't notice until loading the bike on the trailer....after the river crossing of course Wasn't leaking huge - but definitely cracked!
OK, OK, I'm starting to get real itchy for a ride From Brebeuf you go south along Riviere Rouge Road all the way to 148. Great scenic ride and most of it is right along the river where there are lots of kayakers out playing. Lots of outfitters along there like Owl Rafting etc.
Yea Dan. The Riviere Rouge Road I had hoped to come back on. It's a chewed up piece of pavement but a real hoot! Did it last year with a couple of Harley baggers and they were'nt too happy with it.
shit, I have to get out and meet you guys sometime soon. It looks like I'm missing a lot of fun in my own backyard. Ed
Ah, yeah, and my old racetrack, Kilmar Road and Hwy 327 were always fun at the stupid speeds we used to ride It's amazing to have survived
I just bought a new Mapart Eastern Ontario map. 2009 edition. I see a road that I don't recall having shown up on older editions of this map, called Barry Lake Tr. that is heading southwest from Barrett Chute on the south side of Calabogie Lake. It ends up at the Arcol Road near Ompah. I can't see this road on google maps. Is it really a road or just a misprint?
Yes it exists but it's called Arcol Rd for a large portion of it, what your map isn't showing is the split where Arcol peels off to the left (looking at your map) and heads to Black Donald campground...roaming rally route morning of day two Can get muddy when wet and when loggers are on it and rocky/bumpy forca large part of it. This help? It is on Google maps or was the last time I checked...but I did notice they removed roads lately...like New Rd off the 511 is no longer on Google Maps...awesome road by the way
I wonder what time that was because there was an accident at the junction of 508 and 65, just west of Calabogie, at around noon time on Sat. A woman riding a cruiser went off the road, taking out a sign and destroying her bike in the process. She had to be airlifted out. She was riding with another guy on his own bike. I know all this because I waited for 15 minutes until the helicopter took off and the OPP reopened the road.
Well, I missed last ride, but will be ready for the next ones I am sure some of you know, but for those who don't, I wanted to let you know about a suspension shop out near Carp, Windmill Motorsports. I just had the suspension redone and adjusted by this guy, and WOW... my barge moves I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but the work he does is top notch, and price wise is affordable... .
