Thought of replacing my stock screen of my 990adv to the rally raid ones. But its 50mm shorter than the stock.
Any guys here have it here, can share your views.

Got my Rally Raid last March or April.... still really like it a lot. Be warned that the back side is raw fiberglass. I had my buddy who owns a body shop put a new resin coat on the back and re-paint the entire thing.

Tis a huge windscreen thread about, but my 2 cents is:

    Rally RAID screen is:
    - better than stock re buffeting, while still offering adequate wind/water protection
    - shorter, and with a lip, so much safer offroad
    - poorly finished on the inside (raw fibreglass)
    - some what fragile (not as tough as the stocker)

Better offroad for sure. Personally I think the stocker offerss better wind protection so I usually that on long trips with long paved sections. RR one definately looks better though!

From my recient trip to Canada on the Roaming Rally 2012. Rode 1000 miles on the rally alone. Ive put over 4,000 miles on the bike with this screen and I love it. Its low enough when offroading or when you get lost and end up on a MX track:evil. Well not low enough for mx. Rode from Richmond, VA to Manahattan, NY raced around and rode back in a weekend. All highway, saw 130-ish mph and didnt rip off. Its a great product. I dont regret buying it one bit.

And yes this is Craigs 2wd 950 adv ( for now, 1050cc big bore kit in the works)

Are you selling these screens? Thought I saw you offering them in another thread. If so please make it known that you are promoting them and move to vendors!!! If not please advise so...

Oh hey thanks for the heads up on that
the point was my opinion that short works better than tall for comfort and performance
    the rally raid is nice

vendors ?....I'll have to check that out , thanks,
    ,
edit : I went and read the forum rules and vendor section, sorry ill have to be more careful , I guess that posting the picture of my bike would be spamming

and yes I will be having some ready soon if it works out
Im not a manufacturer just a guy laid off from my construction job making some stuff in a shed
    Thanks

I've had my Rally Raid for about a month now and love it. No real tests on it yet but it seems many times better than the stock.

I go back and forth between my stock chopped 4" or so and the rally raid, must say that the stock chop job is much cleaner air than the rally raid. I am short tho. 5'10" almost :D But better protection with the rally(but turbulence)

    +1 on that.
If I'm going on a ride with my streetbike buddies at illegal speeds, I put on the shorty.
For everything else, I like the Rally Raid.
Another thing I've found is that while most of the time, the RR windscreen has fairly low turbulence, on very windy days it can get pretty bad. Especially when heading into the wind. There are times I just want to take it off, and strap onto the back of the bike for the day.

Can anyone tell me why the screens with the lip are rallye. The 690 rfr screen looks nothing like it ??
Maybe if u go back to the very early bikes like the 640 then yes but otherwise???
Maybe they moved away from the lip for a reason....

other than the early 640 advs (with the lip.) any ktm bike bering adventure in the name has air buffeting turbulence..
    this my own experience.

I like mine. Much less buffeting than the stock screen whith the Arai XD-3. I think the XD-3 and stock windscreen is just a bad combo.

I used epoxy to attach a RAM ball mount then sprayed several coats of flat black to hide the unfinished fiberglass back.

I agree here I had a 1999 640 that was built on a wed and never really shook like everyone says and the screen was awesome!
    I kinda miss that bike

I think they are an significant improvement over stock, much less buffeting and no guillotine edge. You do get a little more wind on your shoulders but the reduced buffeting makes for a more enjoyable ride at highway ++ speeds. The backside is unfinished but that is easy to remedy with some flat black spray paint.

    SAVE your money
just cut the 50mm (or more) off the stock screen
the lip does nothing - for me anyway
plus I don't like not being able to see through screen
    :D
