Minor painting of gas tank panels really changes the looks of the bike!

Ray did you paint those yourself or did you have a shop do it? If you had a shop do it do you mind if I ask how much it ran you? I really like the look of the extra red.

I painted the panels myself. I used a new Krylon paint made espesically for plastics( you don't use a primer because the paint "bonds" to the plastic).. I got it at Advance Auto. The red that it comes in is a real close match to the GSA red seat as you can see. I wiped the parts down with lacquer thinner and taped the BMW roundel off with the blue auto painters tape. Run a wire hanger thru the back so you can hang it up after you paint the panel. Wait till you have at least 75 degrees temperature. It also helps to heat up the paint cans in some hot tap water. It takes one can for each panel if ,like me ,you do 3 coats 15 minutes apart. Let the paint dry at least 2 days before riding. Cures to a hard finish in 7 days. The can says that it dries "to touch" in 15 min. and can be handled in 1 hour. FORGET THAT!! Don't touch it for 24 hours minimum. Don't try to put the panels on the bike before they are dry! I know. I did! Had to repaint one panel because I was too anxious to see what they looked like. Don't hurry...be patient.Good luck! Ron Ray:D

Nice paint job. It does add a little zing to the bike.

How did you get your wifes purse to hang on the panier mount? :lol3

Because I never liked the yellow nor mouse gray which were 2010 colours I had to do it my way. Yellow tupperware went to paint shop and returned home Misano Red Pearl.
No only one problem to solve, snow behind the door!:cry

After many questions about the rim stripes,
those are purpose made reflective tape.
    Try from ebay "rim tape"

If you do much off roading, it will be interesting to see how well it holds up.
