In the course of human events, there comes a time in every human's life when the sense of adventure overtakes the safety and security of everyday life...

These are the best of times, these are the worst of times, these are the times that try my soul...

Ok, enough mis-quoting (purposefully, btw...), on with the report!

I am getting ready to embark on the most adventurous journey of my life... This, if the plan holds, is a 44 day, 3 country, 8 state, 5 province, 2 ferry crossing, 8 border crossing, almost 12,000 mile odyssey. :eek1

I will be riding this mostly solo, but will be joining up with SpecialAgentNancy for part of the trip, on the leg from Anacortes, WA to Anchorage AK, including the Kenai Peninsula. After riding back to Anchorage, AK, we will say our good byes and I'll continue solo for the rest of the ride.

In the posts to follow, I'll be posting the route, photos of my motorcycle, photos of my kit.

Upon departure, I'll be posting a ride report regularly, as the wi-fi availability goes. I have my spot messenger and will be using it in the track mode. Feel free to follow my whereabouts...

Finally got the DMV crap sorted and got my plate changed to this bike... If you see me on the road, say hi...

These screen shots show the route I'm taking... I had to break it into 4 maps because maps.google.com only allow 25 destinations when mapping a route...

From San Clemente, CA to Anacortes, WA... From Point Y (Anacortes, WA) on this map to Point A (Sidney, BC, Canada) on the next map is by ferry...

From Sidney, BC, Canada to Seward, AK... Point C (Port Hardy, BC, Canada) to Point D (Prince Rupert, BC, Canada) is by ferry...

From Seward, AK to Dawson Creek, BC, Canada...

From Dawson Creek, BC, Canada to San Clemente, CA...

Entire route as mapped by my gps software...

To track my spot, use this link...

    macadamia.whereamiriding.com

advrider inmate Strega created that site and it is so much easier to view the spot tracks on than the actual spot website...

If you are trying to view that link before May 26, 2013 or after the second week of July 2013, there will not be an active link to follow. Every few days, I'll cut and paste a copy of the map with the tracking points within this thread. I don't know how long the actual points will last, but I think it's like 7 days...

Ya never know, may see ya on the road. We're leaving for Alaska after the MOA Rally in Salem Oregon. Or, maybe see you at the Rally. Either way, have a good ride and I'll be following your RR

Isn't the rally in late July? If I am held up along the way, I'll probably stop by the MOA rally...

Thank you... I'm 85% ready for the trip... The 12k service on the bike is scheduled for Friday, I pick up my passport tomorrow, and the rest of what I ordered should arrive early next week...

I have some more farkles to put on the bike as well... my highway pegs, the Leo Vince exhaust and headers, the top box, and a couple of other little things... I have sorted out most everything on the bike and I believe it is ready for the trip. On Friday, though, I'm having the dealership perform the service as well as giving it a once over to ensure it's ready.

Have fun Andy! Hopefully we will see you up there. Not leaving until June 23rd. We are basically doing the same trip but backwards. We are going up the coast and back home inland.

Just found the dates. May 26th-2nd week of june. Should see you on the way back!

I'm riding back around the second week of July...

I'm riding from San Clemente, CA to the Mexican border, crossing it, then riding north... I'm basically doing this to get my passport stamped (I know they probably will not stamp it...), to say I've been there on the bike, and for the sticker on my pannier... :lol3

Thank you, sir... I owe you a huge debt of gratitude - for knocking some of the nOOb'ness off of my off road riding. Thank you for the nOOb rallies... Thank you for dragging me around in Kennedy Meadows after the rest of the group bailed that day...

    Thank you...
    Thank you...
