For me it would be a dark grey '66 or '67 SWB, the same color as the '70S Steve McQueen drove in the opening sequence of LeMans.* As a driver, I'm somewhat of a piker. S or no, really wouldn't matter.

*One year I had a few days off and a boatload of FF miles so I decided to go to Indy for the day to pick up some swag and watch qualifying. Chad McQeen drove by me in the car as I was crossing Hulman Blvd from swag alley to the speedway. He sold it at auction a year or two later.

I read about that at the time, didn't it fetch over a million bucks? It amazes me the affect fame can have on the price of goods. It is a beautiful example in its own right but...... Well if I had the money I'd probably buy it too. :D

Why didn't I pay more attention in school so that I could be rich enough to get me one of these. On the other hand considering the school I went to, it wouldn't have made much difference. :lol3

Ok I have looked enough at this thread to give me incentive to post a picture of my 1973 911 RSR. It is a dedicated race car that weighs 1,950 lbs. Although not a true RSR, it does have some interesting parts and pieces. The car was never undercoated and still has the original headliner. It would be great to know the history through all the years because it has been raced for a while. It was imported from Canada and has stickers from Mont-Tremblant from early 90's.

Wow, looks too clean to be a race car! Even the wheel wells are clean.

    Damn nice!

    Thanks,
Yeah, that picture was taken a few years ago after a lot work and detailing done. Although it does get a lot of attention after an event still.

PS Arena red / black my favorite color combo! and a 993. Definitely a keeper.

Looking at an '07 version of one of these right now:

    What are it's foibles/achilles heels?

I've read maintenance can be a hassle due to limited access, and that it is also cursed with IMS failures.

Excellent condition with a 5-speed, PSM, S-spec wheels. 14,100 mi. $31,950 takes it.

Any insight from you Porschephiles? :ear

IMS issues are plaguing a lot of models . Be diligent about checking the oil filter for debris during every change .
