I had an epic summer of riding. The most epic in over 40 years of riding. Can't bitch about that!!! I'm a lucky man.

Did some tinkering this weekend...replaced exhaust doughnut gaskets, gave the header and megaphone a nice polishing, and replaced about 20 odd fasteners with proper stainless steel hardware. The big $$ items (LiFe battery and chain...about 300.00 between the 2)) require that I be more responsible and pay bills first. So no, she isn't finished yet.

I have really let some things of a personal nature get to me here lately...lots of frustration, stress & a bit of worry thrown in for good measure. Uncertainty sucks.

It was nice to wake up and just catch a quiet sunrise. Would have been nicer if I didn't have a 135lb great dane anxious to get moving after we stopped for the photo op

Got the Shorai installed in the Ole Girl. Pulled and replaced some fuses, double checked some wiring, and BOOOM!!

I made two small 'wiring harnesses" to run the Dyna ignition and the coils thru a relay powered directly by the battery (so that the entire ignition circuit didn't have to push thru that 30 year old main wiring harness). Amazing what a big, fat unimpeded spark will do to ease starting. Just pull in the clutch and touch the starter...the engine rolls once and jumps to life, as it should.

I've been gone from ADV too long, and my beemer is probably missing me since I bought the Aprilia. I'm gonna have to tour the lowcountry again after the new year.

Careful with the Shorai that your bike isn't over charging the battery, bad things can happen I made sure at 2500rpm that it wasn't putting out over 14.4v.
I put a Ballistic in my Ape and love it. Now that it's getting "colder" out, though I saw it was close to 80 the other day, I'll be back on the Beemer.

The GS series is a bike where overcharging is never an issue Usually goes the other way around....After everything is all buttoned up, she is gonna get a stator and R/R test. I'll eventually be going to a compuFire R/R, which is much more like an alternator than the shunt type R/Rs on most older bikes.

I have had zero issues with the charging system on my Suzy, which is quite rare for both the age of the bike (both my stator and R/R are the OEM original parts), and make/model...GSes were notorious for weak charging systems.
